The First United Church in Wetaskiwin, Alberta was destroyed by fire the morning of October 13, 2009. Please keep the people of First United in your prayers at this time of such a devastating loss.

The Filipino Community is doing a blanket, clothing and cash donation drive held in the McCready Centre October 15-16, 22-23, and 29 from 10 am to 12 noon.  Your donated items will be sent to the areas in the Philippines that were affected by the flood.  There will also be a fundraiser event October 29 in the Athabasca Hotel at 8 pm where the Filipino bands will perform.

The next book club meeting is November 10 at 7:00 pm at 713 Miette Avenue.  We will discuss the book “The Great Gatsby” written by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

The “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree will once again be in the Narthex beginning November 8^th. Everyone is encouraged to bring items such as mitts, socks, toques or scarves and place their items on our tree.  All items will be donated to the Bissell Centre in Edmonton.
