Mill Woods United Church is an open and inclusive congregation. We believe marriage is one of God's gifts and part of God's intention for many human lives. The marriage of two people is one of the most important aspects in their lives. It has a profound and lasting effect not only on the couple but also on the society of which they are a part. In the Christian understanding of marriage the community of faith or congregation takes on the responsibility of supporting couples that come before them for marriage.  It is on this  basis that Mill Woods United Church welcomes your interest in celebrating your marriage with the congregation. We celebrate weddings for couples of all orientations who are in committed relationships.

Marriage in the church involves deep and significant commitments that signify not only permanent and lasting covenants but also a desire for the blessing of God on the marriage and on the intention of forming a Christian marriage and home. Every couple being married in the church should realize that they are professing their belief in God; their faith in Christ as Lord and Saviour; and, are including themselves within the fellowship of Christian people that is the church. Where couples have not had an active church relationship or a meaningful commitment to Christ this should be for them a time of real decision. If the couple does not see their marriage as involving a sincere commitment within the Christian understanding of marriage then it is recommended that they consider the alternative of a civil ceremony.

This booklet will provide you with all the information you need to proceed with your wedding at Mill Woods United. We will be happy to mail (or email) you a copy if you leave us your name, full mailing address and date you are wishing to be married.

All couples wishing to be married at Mill Woods United Church will meet with our minister to make the arrangements and to do the planning related to the wedding service of worship that they are seeking.

All couples will be expected to attend a Marriage Preparation Course. Recommended courses are offered by:

Wedding Fees - $650 (A deposit of $275.00 is required to book the wedding)
All fees and honoria are included in the quoted cost.

No bookings are made until the couple has received a copy of our Wedding Information Book and have attended an initial appointment with the minister. Bookings are then made on a first-come-first-served basis upon receipt of the deposit.
