Sunday School
Sunday school starts at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Children sit with parents at the beginning of the service and then during the "Children's Time" they come forward to the Sea of Galilee for some time designed specifically for them. They will hear a story related to their Sunday school rotation, sing a song and say a prayer. After this, the children go to the lower hall where they will meet up with their Shepherd and go to their appropriate rotation activity. (2007 - 2008 Sunday school curriculum)
We have many dedicated and experienced adults who share in the responsibility of helping our children to learn Christian principles: God's love, Jesus' ministry and important values of sharing, fairness, respect and compassion. All adults working with children are required to have a Police Check done once every three years.
Our Sunday school uses the WORM program (Workshop Rotation Model) that allows children to learn Bible stories through a number of different activities. Each rotation lasts for a period of 4-5 weeks. Each week the children hear the same Bible story (from different versions of the Bible), discuss questions arising from the story and then participate in an activity such as art, games, cooking, storytelling, crafts, drama, science or computers to reinforce the lesson of the story. The children are divided into flocks by age. Each flock has an adult shepherd who travels with the children to the different activities.
We have been using this model for the past several years and have been very pleased with how well the children have learned the stories of the Bible. It is never too late to join in on the Sunday school fun. New children are always welcome. There is no charge to participate in the Sunday school program but we do ask that all children be registered in the program. If you have any questions please contact church office
