"Consider Serving Overseas"
Invitations from United Church of Canada Global Partners

Warm greetings to you from the General Council Offices! We ask your assistance in promoting opportunities to engage in God's mission with a global partner of the United Church.

Attached please find a list of the current invitations to overseas mission service. This list is updated periodically and may be found on the United Church's website, with other related information, at: http://www.united-church.ca/getinvolved/global/overseas/

Living and working as mission personnel in a cross-cultural context overseas is a unique opportunity and offers many challenges. These challenges are best met by people who have a deep and growing Christian faith, who are flexible, mature, resourceful, and who can live with a large degree of ambiguity. These persons have a healthy self-image, the ability to deal with unusual circumstances and are able to handle occasional high levels of stress. They have a strong commitment to justice, particularly with those who are oppressed. Know someone like this? Please encourage them to consider overseas mission service through The United Church of Canada.

The United Church`s global mission personnel screening process is an intensive one. Individuals pursuing the possibility of longer term service overseas should allow several months to explore such a ministry.

Please encourage individuals to be in touch with us. They may

  • write or call the United Church's People in Partnership program staff pip@united-church.ca 416-231-7680 or 1-800-268-3781, ext. 4017
  • be in touch with the volunteer "Global Mission Personnel Facilitator" in your Conference, or the Conference office. Contact information is included on the request list.

Blessings to you in your continued ministry.
