A Lenten Pilgrimage to
Wellness
You
are invited to live prayerfully through this Lenten season and increase your
physical activity at the same time. Walking 3.33 Kms. (about 2 miles) a day
during the 40 days of Lent (except on Sundays), you will journey the distance
(133.34 Kms. /80 miles) from Jesus’ hometown of Nazareth to Jerusalem.
Below
is a calendar to assist you to organize your journey. Each day, you are encouraged
to read scripture, engage in a health promoting activity, and walk 3.33 Kms.
Finding a Lenten walking partner may help to keep you motivated and will give
you the added benefit of someone with whom to discuss the spiritual activity. A
step counter might also assist you keep track of your walking process. Walking
could be done indoors (treadmill, mall, gym) or outdoors if weather permits or
if you love our Alberta winters!
Who
knows this 40 day habit will lead to a healthier lifestyle even beyond the
Lenten season.
