The Canadian Pacific District includes Evangelical Free Churches located throughout the interior of British Columbia, beginning at Merritt in the southern region; through the northern region of British Columbia; and into the Yukon Territory. The majority of the Canadian Pacific District churches are located in rural areas. Some churches are self-supporting financially and others utilize a “tent making” approach where a pastor works part time outside the church in a given work trade to assist in financial support.
Each of the Free Churches are congregational in church government, which means, each local church governs its own affairs, the decisions are made collectively by the membership of the given church. The church is autonomous and yet a vital part of the whole, being the Canadian District, regionally; and the Evangelical Free Church of Canada, nationally. The churches annually send voting delegates to the Canadian Pacific Conference (regionally) and bi-annually to the National Evangelical Free Church of Canada Conference (nationally).
The statements of doctrine of the Evangelical Free Church of Canada may be found at the EFFC web site along with a directory of the various Free Churches in a given district or across Canada. The web site is: www.efcc.ca ; click on National Ministries and then Directory: Member churches to obtain the directory of churches.
