District News

  • The District Conference occurred during October 3-5, 2008 and was hosted by the EFC of Prince George in Prince George, BC

The conference had great fellowship!

The Nicola Valley EFC in Merritt, BC had their mortgage burning ceremony on Sunday January 4, 2009. They are mortgage free!!! Praise the Lord!

Prayer Items:

  • Liard Evangelical Free Church (Yukon) - Ray and Sonya Laukkanen continue as bi-vocational pastor. Ray is currently has a job as a Drug and Rehab counsellor that will supplement his pastor income.
  • Chase Evangelical Free Church - the church has selected a Pastoral Search Committee and has reviewed their pastor needs recently to pursue a long term bi-vocational pastor. They are currently in the process of candidating.
  • The Gospel Chapel (Evangelical Free Church in Vanderhoof) - Shaun and Julia Wick are enjoying being the senior pastor. The church has been looking for a full time Associate Pastor and have recently called Dan and Kristi MacGillivary, they will begin in June 2009
  • Terrace EFC - pray for the new senior pastor, Bob and Wendy Pond have begun ministry at the church.
  • Kamloops Chinese EFC - they recently have Pastor Kong assisting this small group to develop the ministry of this church. The DS, Dr Yeung and Pastor Kong have met, pray for guidance in how this important work can be stabilized and move ahead.
  • North Shuswap Christian Fellowship (EFC at Scotch Creek) - Pastor John and Marilyn Giesbrecht enjoy their mid-week Bible study which currently has 30 plus adults attending. The church is enjoying doing a kids club ministry for the community, it is well attended.
  • Pritchard EFC - Terry Roth, a former pastor has been assisting with pulpit supply.
  • Broadview EFC at Salmon Arm - Pastor Dave Penner and his wife Wendy along with the church are looking forward to assisting with supporting a rural Liberian village of Malawo.  Pastor Dave and a group of local doctors will be visiting the area in June to determine what kind of medical support could be arranged.
  • McBride EFC is currently establishing some newly elected Board members from their recent AGM meeting. The new board met in May for leadership sessions and training with Abe Funk. Dan and Marilyn and the kids are safely back from the month of April sabbatical.
  • District Board Church Plant Prayer Team currently had 39 prayer warriors from 9 district churches; if you like to be a prayer warrior or would like more information regarding this unique ministry please contact Dave and Jane Sager at (250) 996-8993
  • Fort St. James EFC recently had their pastor, Brian Ray, slip on some ice and break his ankle.  The break was severe and Brian is slowly recuperating from surgery. Brian continues to heal well and is now able to walk on his own.
  • The EFC in Smither's is candidating a person for their full time Associate Pastor position.
  • The EFC in Dawson City, is actively getting ready for their summer camp ministry at Kamp Klondike. Pray for qualified camp counsellors and workers for this very effective ministry bringing the gospel to children and teens.
