Rector - A member of the clergy in charge of a parish; a priest in charge of a congregation, church, or parish; the principal or head of a school or of a college.

About our Rector -

The Reverend Allen Tapley (some call him Allen, some call him Mr., but rarely call him reverend) was born and raised in Woodstock, New Brunswick.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB and a Master of Divinity from Wycliffe College, at the Toronto School of Theology in the University of Toronto. Before going to seminary Allen was for eighteen years a civil servant with the Government of Canada .

Allen has been with our parishes since August of 1995. He is married to Joan (McHatten)and they have two grown daughters.  Allen and Joan live in the rectory (parsonage) in Dutch Valley.

Aside from leading our parishes, Allen is also very involved in the community as:

  • Chaplain at the Sussex Health Centre
  • Secretary of the Sussex Ministerial Association
  • Scouts Canada District Chaplain
  • Police Chaplain with "J" Division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police
  • A member of the Bishop's committee on the Clergy Code of Pastoral Conduct

Aside from his busy schedule Allen is an outdoors man, and enjoys most activities outdoors, especially if it involves the wilderness, and he can take his dog, Angus. He is always very approachable, and doesn't mind being called or visited. He feels that it is his "job to be interrupted."
