First Baptist Church Halifax

Welcome!

First Baptist Church Halifax was founded in 1827 as the Granville Street Baptist Church and is affiliated with the Atlantic Baptist Fellowship and the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches. We are intentionally ecumenical and inclusive in our worship services (Sundays at 10:30 a.m.) and programs.

We would like to get to know you better and for you to meet our staff. We are located at 1300 Oxford Street, near South. You can be added to our mailing list or ask for the weekly News Notes. Feel free to contact us if you need further information!

Our Mission: First Baptist Church is an inclusive and ecumenical community of believers in Jesus Christ committed to proclaim God’s mission of love by word and deed.

Our Vision: First Baptist Church will be a Christ-centered community of diverse people experiencing God’s unconditional love and acceptance, finding opportunities to grow and nurture our faith, and sharing that love, acceptance and faith with the world.

Transfiguration Sunday

February 14th  is Transfiguration Sunday, the last Sunday in the Season of Epiphany. We hear again the story of the transfiguration of Christ, and we recognize that, unlike Moses, whose face shone with light reflected from God, Jesus himself is the light from God that has come into the world. Our Senior Choir will be singing under the direction of Lynette Wahlstrom.  Rev. Renee Clark will conduct the service and Rev. John E. Boyd will preach a sermon entitled "To See the Light."  The scriptures for the day are Exodus 34:29-35Psalm 992 Corinthians 3:12-4:2Luke 9:28-43).   We hope you will join us.
