A Resolution to Affirm The Commitment That First Baptist Church Halifax is an Inclusive Community:
Whereas our Vision Statement commits First Baptist Church Halifax is a Christ-centered community of diverse people experiencing God’s unconditional love and acceptance, finding opportunities to grow and nurture our faith, and sharing that love, acceptance and faith with the world, and
Whereas our Mission Statement affirms First Baptist Church Halifax is an inclusive and ecumenical community of believers in Jesus Christ committed to proclaim God’s mission of love by word and deed
Be it resolved:
that First Baptist Church Halifax, at a congregational meeting on 4 June 2006, affirms as a Christ-centered community,
that it welcomes and extends the same rights and privileges (membership, sacraments, etc.) to all people who meet the criteria for the right or privilege as required by Church policy (e.g. as in the case of membership) or as required by the Ministers and/or the Diaconate, of First Baptist Church Halifax,
that First Baptist Church, Halifax will not discriminate on the grounds, and including but not limited to: gender, age, race, national or ethnic origin, colour, disability, marital status, family status, sexual orientation or economic circumstances, and all such policies shall be consistent with the non-discrimination principles outlined above.
