In Memory of Myra Prentice

First Baptist Church Halifax extends sincere sympathy to Rev. Dr. Roger Prentice and family in the loss of his mother, Myra Prentice, 100, on February 2, 2009. A Memorial Service was held at the Church on Saturday, February 7 at 11 a.m.

Myra Agnes Prentice … 100, of Wolfville, passed away Monday, February 2, 2009 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Prince William, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Murray and Emma Jane (Hayward) Long. She dedicated her life to her family, her church and her home. She had been employed teaching in the public school system in New Brunswick and took part in many elections acting as a District Returning Officer. She was a member of First Baptist Church Halifax, where she had been President and office holder in the Women's Missionary Society, the Women's Auxiliary, Teacher and Superintendent within the Church School and Leader of the Mission Band. She was also Regent of two IODE chapters in Halifax. She is survived by her son, Reverend Doctor Roger Prentice, Wolfville; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Percy Prentice; three sisters, Maude Currie, Ruby Trail and Nellie McCabe. Cremation has taken place under the direction of White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there will be no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Halifax, Reverend John Boyd officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery, New Brunswick. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Chaplaincy Endowment Fund c/o Acadia University. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
