First Baptist Church Halifax extends sincere sympathy to the family and friends of the late Edith Poapst whose death occurred on August 27, 2009 after a lengthy illness.
POAPST (Bush), Edith I.— 92, on August 27, 2009, passed away in Halifax. Born September 22, 1916, in Edmonton, Alta. She was the beloved wife of 60 years of Peter A. Poapst; dear mother of Susan, Ottawa, Ont.; Jennifer (John Harrison), Musquodoboit Harbour and Diana (Roger MacMillan), Westbank, B.C.; and grandmother of Wesley Harrison. She was predeceased by parents, J. Willard and Florence A. (Schryer) Bush (Ottawa, Ont.) and by brother, Willard S. Bush (Ormond Beach, Fla.). She was a member of First Baptist Church, Ottawa, a graduate of Glebe Collegiate, Ottawa and McMaster University, Hamilton, Ont. She worked in the Privy Council Office for the Cabinet War Committee during the Second World War. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will occur at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff of Saint Vincent's Nursing Home for their care and compassion, and First Baptist Church, Halifax, for their many kindnesses. Those wishing to honour Edith's memory could donate to a charity of their choice.
