In memory of Lawrence "Buddy" Greenough

First Baptist Church Halifax extends sincere sympathy to Ryan Swinamer and family in the loss of his grandfather, Lawrence "Buddy" Greenough.

GREENOUGH, Lawrence Irving “Buddy”, age 82, of Woodville, Hants Co., passed away Monday, May 11, 2009, at the Windsor Elms Village, Windsor. Born on June 26, 1926, in Greenhill, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late J. Earle and Laurie (Thompson) Greenough. A lifelong farmer in Woodville, he was a longtime Ayrshire Breeder, and exhibited cattle throughout the Maritime Provinces and Ontario, under the prefix of Brixham Farm. He was also a member of the Hants County Ox Association. His favorite past-time was work, work and more work. Buddy is survived by his children, Dana (Elizabeth) Greenough, Woodville; Dolores (Bill) Graves, Chester; Karleen Swinamer, Windsor; John (Ruth Anne) Greenough, Greenfield; grandchildren, Gillian (Albie) Greenough-Smethurst, Rawdon; Adrian (Jodi) Greenough, Scotch Village; Bob Graves, Halifax; Amy Graves, Toronto, Ont.; Ryan (Melanie) Swinamer, Hammond Plains; Meghan (Chris) Grimes, Arkansas; Lindsay, Talia, Jacob and Simon Greenough, Greenfield; great grandchildren, Cameron Webber; Jackson and Elwyn Smethurst; Joshua Greenough; Aiden Grimes; brother, Beverly “Bev” Greenough, Woodville; sisters, Helen (Bud) Ritchie, Mochelle, Anna Co.; Marion Newcombe, Windsor; Diane (Dick) Hermiston, Perth, Ont.; numerous nieces and nephews. Buddy was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, the former Freda Evelyn Benedict (May 31, 2006); sister, Eileen Davison. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009, in the Newport United Church, Brooklyn, Hants County. The Rev. Shelley Pick officiated. Interment was held in the Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
