In Memory of Dorothy Evans

A Memorial Service for the late Dorothy Evans was held in First Baptist Church Halifax on Friday, February 9 at 2 pm. We extend our sincere sympathy to Dorothy's family and friends.

EVANS, Dorothy Eleanor - 95, Halifax, wife of the late George Ronald Evans, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at her residence, Melville Gardens, Halifax. Born in Hammonds Plains, she was a daughter of the late Charles "Martell" and Jane (Melvin) Bezanson. Dorothy was a mother, a primary school teacher, and an accomplished author. Her lifelong interests and passions were children, genealogy and local history. She will be fondly remembered by her family, son, Ross (Joyce), Hammonds Plains, and his family David (Sarah) and Anne-Marie; son, Gregory, Upper Stewiacke, his children Ron and Brian, and his granddaughter Grace; daughter, Ruth Evans-Bailey (partner Gary "Agar" Smith), East Dover; sister, Isabel Publicover (late husband John), Hubbards; and brother-in-law, Reginald Evans (Marjorie), Halifax. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, George Ronald Evans, and great-granddaughter, Katie. By request, cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601), where visitation will be held today from 7-8 p.m. A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, February 9, at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Oxford Street, Halifax, with Rev. John Boyd as officiating clergy. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrances to the IWK Health Centre Foundation for play therapy.
