First Baptist Church Halifax extends sincere sympathy to the family and friends of the late Jane Kia. A Memorial Service was held at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth on Wednesday, November 29 at 11 a.m.
KIA (Tracy), Jane
Frances - Colby Village, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully and
surrounded by the everlasting love of her family, on November 25. 2006,
in VG Site, QEII, Halifax, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jane
is our hero. She was the daughter of William Raland Tracy (Betty),
Sackville, N.B., and was predeceased by her natural mother, Frances
Tracy, and second mother, Annette Pesant Tracy. Jane was employed by
Scotiabank since 1976, and her spirit and drive enabled her to attain
much success. Jane enjoyed spending time with family and friends,
skiing, curling, knitting, gardening, traveling, and spending time at
the family cottage in Murray Corner, N.B. She made a lasting impression
on anyone she met and was always the life of any gathering between
family and friends. The void she has left can never be filled and she
will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched. Her
generosity and strength of character were her greatest attributes and
in no way will be forgotten. Family and friends could always rely on
Jane when there was a need. She leaves to mourn her loving husband,
Charles B. "Charlie" Kia; daughters, of whom she was so very proud,
Melissa (Jimmy Paquet), Quebec City, Que.; and Stephanie, at home; and
her ever loving cats, Calvin and Hobbs; sisters, Anne (Michael) Kinley,
Burnaby, B.C.; Barbara (Paul) Myers, Hubley; Joan (Dahrl) Whitney,
Halifax; Linda (Handson) Yip, Italy; brother, Ronald (Valerie) Tracy,
Moncton, N.B.; nieces, Angela Tracy, Tracy MacInnis, Trudy Allen, and
Meredith Whitney; nephews, Raland and Nevin Kinley, Christopher and
Gregory Myers, Richard Tracy, Stewart Whitney, Brian and Aaron Yip; and
special aunts, Ruth (Donald) McPhail, Bedford; Helen Lawrence,
Sackville, N.B. Many thanks to the exceptional doctors, nurses, and
staff at the QEII Oncology and Palliative Care Units, and a special
thank you to Dr. Robert Grimshaw. Arrangements have been entrusted to
Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where Jane's family
will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, and
where a celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday,
November 29, officiated by Rev. John Boyd of First Baptist Church,
Halifax. Donations can be made to Ovarian Cancer Research, Big
Brothers/Big Sisters, and the United Way of Halifax Region.
