FRASER, Douglas Mark - 72. It is with great sadness that the family mourns the passing of Doug Fraser of Halifax, formerly of Cumberland County. Doug died Sunday, September 16, 2007, at home after a long and courageous battle against diabetes. Born April 20, 1935, in Riverview, Cumberland Co., he was a son of Irene (Teed) Fraser of Oxford and the late Norman Angus Fraser. Doug will be dearly missed by his soul mate and loving wife, the former Joyce Murphy, after an incredible 52 years of marriage. Doug is also survived by his children, Debbie (Phil) Roy, Lower Sackville; Michael (Alice) Fraser, Lower Sackville; Sue Fraser, Lake Echo; and Shelley (Rod) Ellis, Hammonds Plains; grandchildren, Alyson and Andrew Roy, Ryan and Alexander Fraser, Bradley and Jalen Ellis, and many close family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Herbert John Fraser. Doug had a successful career with Canfor/Canwell Limited. During his retirement he spent many happy years in Bridgewater, Lorneville, Cumberland County and Amherst. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, camping and spending time with his family. Doug will always be remembered for his incredibly positive outlook on life and his strong will to live, love and laugh. His family, who was the most important part of his life, can share many wonderful memories. Grampy was a role model for his grandchildren whom he supported, teased and loved dearly. Doug's positive and amazing spirit will be forever in our hearts. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the truly caring nurses of the Dialysis Unit, Dixon Building, VG Site, QEII, and to all the QEII hospital staff who helped Doug over the past four years.
