First Baptist Church Halifax extends sincere sympathy to the family and friends of the late A. Russell Harrington.
HARRINGTON, A. Russell - 92, Halifax, died October 29, 2006, at home. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Ethel (Cunningham) Harrington (Halifax and Antigonish). He attended Dalhousie University and Technical University of Nova Scotia receiving a B.Eng. and also was awarded an Honorary D.Eng. from T.U.N.S., a D.C.L. from Acadia University and a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada. He joined Nova Scotia Light and Power Company Ltd. on graduation and rose to the position of President and C.E.O. Other positions he held included Vice President of Halifax Developments Ltd. and Nova Scotia Savings and Loan Co. He was director of several other companies and served as a member of Nova Scotia Labour Relations Board, Chairman of Nova Scotia Voluntary Planning, Chairman of Atlantic Management Training Centre and on the Board of Governors of Dalhousie University and T.U.N.S. He was a Past President of the Waegwoltic Club and the Halifax Y.M.C.A. He will be remembered as an avid fisherman and lover of Nova Scotia's outdoors. He is survived by his wife, the former Beatrice Dean, Halifax; his son, Gordon, Denver, Colo.; brother-in-law, Harry Dean, Sackville, N.B.; cousins and several nieces and nephews.
