First Baptist Church Halifax extends sincere sympathy to our Minister Emeritus, Rev. Dr. William Carey Harvey, and family in the loss of his wife, Frances Harvey on November 6, 2009. A Memorial Service was held in the Church on Tuesday, November 10th at 11 a.m.
HARVEY (Ryder), Frances Beatrice — Passed away peacefully, Friday, November 6, 2009, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born June 16 , 1926, in Dublin, Ireland, she was a daughter of Victor and Lily Ryder. She graduated from Ling College, Dublin, Ireland, with a degree in physical education. She married in 1950 and immigrated to Canada in 1952. Fran was active in Girl Guides, First Baptist Church, Halifax, and for many years her fitness group. She spent many summers at their cottage in Toney River, Pictou Co., where she especially enjoyed swimming in the Northumberland Strait. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Fran is survived by her husband, Rev. Dr. William Carey, Halifax; daughters, Deirdre, Halifax; Sheila (Alexis), Halifax; Rosemary (Blair), Truro; Marion (Rob), Boutiliers Point; nine grandchildren; siblings, Joe (Margaret), Hexham, England; Sam, Dublin, Ireland; Lylagh (Sam), Prince Edward Island; Milly, Dublin, Ireland. Funeral arrangements entrusted to J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. for visitation, today, November 9, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial service in First Baptist Church, 1300 Oxford St., Halifax, Tuesday, November 10, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the IWK Health Centre Foundation. Interment at a later date.
