BONAR, William J. "Bill" - 66, Leitches Creek. It is with great sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of William James "Bill" Bonar, age 66, a resident of Leitches Creek, on Friday, December 23, 2005. Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Russell and Myrtle (Brown) Bonar. Bill was employed with MacDougall's Wholesale in Sydney Mines for 39 years prior to his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and gardening. He was a former Scout and Venturer leader and was a former member of the Seaview Curling Club. He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 19, North Sydney, where he enjoyed participating in the Monday night dart league. He had a special knack for fixing things, especially televisions and electronics. He was a member of St. Columba United Church, Leitches Creek. He is survived by his wife, Esther (Walton) Bonar; daughters, Nancy Bonar (Raymond Philibert), Wentworth; Cheryl (Sean) Burke, Leitches Creek; sons, Troy (Kim) Bonar, New Ross; Glen Bonar, at home; grandchildren, Mitchell and Kelcie Burke; sister, Sheila (Jim) Stanley, Prospect; aunt, Verna Simpson, Sydney Mines; sister-in-law, Frances Bonar, Sydney Mines. He was predeceased by brother, John "Jackie" Bonar. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service to take place 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Columba United Church, Rev. David Hann officiating. Burial to follow in Calvin United Church Cemetery, Upper Leitches Creek.
