FOUNTAIN, Frederick Alexander "Alex"— Halifax. On August 22, 2009, our beloved Alex's life ended tragically. Alex was born on September 11, 1988, in Halifax, the son of Fred and Elizabeth (Brown) Fountain, and the brother of Katharine Fountain, all of Head of St. Margarets Bay. Alex graduated from Sir John A. Macdonald High School in 2006, and was about to enter his fourth year at University of King's College, with a view to becoming a teacher. He had many interests over the years, but his favourite was music. He played guitar and sang in many bands on the Halifax music scene and had an interest in many musical genres even including some of his Dad's 1960s stuff! He was interested in everyone he met and truly wanted to know about their lives, their loves, their passions. In addition to his parents and sister, Alex is survived by his grandparents, Marjorie Fountain and Clark and Bernice Brown; his uncles, Clark Brown (Mary Anne), Doug Brown (Janice), Terry Brown, David Fountain (Margaret), his aunt Eileen Richardson; his cousins, Erin, Luke, Matthew, Ashley, Olivia, Jonathan and Gwyneth. He was predeceased by his dear grandfather, Sheldon Fountain. Visitation will be held in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax, on Friday, August 28 from 3 - 6 p.m. Alex's memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29 at 11 a.m. in First Baptist Church, 1300 Oxford St., Halifax, conducted by Rev. John Boyd. Please visit the Facebook site Memories and Prayers for Alex Fountain - Son, Brother, Friend where you can leave a message or just read the comments posted by others. If you would like to make a charitable donation to honour Alex's life, please consider the Nova Scotia Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Laing House, the Stephen Lewis Foundation, Free the Children, the QEII Health CenterFoundation or the Canadian Red Cross. Alex was a fantastic young man, so kind and thoughtful to all, and loved by so very many people. Our hearts are broken that this brilliant light in our lives shines no more.
