Since 1946 children and youth have gathered in a place set apart by the Diocese of Huron. In this beautiful outdoor setting we provide well-planned programs and trained leadership which will result in positive camping experiences that will strengthen each individual camper’s awareness of self in relationships with others, with nature and with God.  Located on the shores of Lake Huron just south of Bayfield, Ontario, we enjoy a 38 acre site of grassy fields, shady woods, leafy ravines, and a sandy beach. It is truly an awesome place to experience the wonder of God's abundant gift to us in creation.   Huron Church Camp is owned and operated by the Incorporated Synod of the Diocese of Huron, which is part of the Anglican Church of Canada and is accredited by the Ontario Camps Association

Huron Church Camp (HCC) Family Retreat -
June 10-12, 2011
from an adult perspective

How do you put faith, friendship and fun together in one weekend? For three years, a number of us have been taking a quick trip to Huron Church Camp and delighting in all three of these.

Some might think of our Parish Family Camp at HCC as a kids only experience or something that only families with young children can take advantage of. For those who have attended, we can say NOT SO!!

When was the last time you took a break from your hectic pace or daily routine and simply enjoyed being somewhere different? Our weekend camp at HCC has organized group activities and common worship times. You have the freedom to participate, or not, yet who wants to miss out on the bonus of getting to know each other just that little bit better. After all, you share the pew on Sundays, why not share preparing or eating a meal or participating in a fun activity like this year's scavenger quest? As one person remarked, “It is nice to actually be able to sit down and not be on our way some where else and connect a bit more with people we see every Sunday, but don't really know much.” Above all, the weekend at HCC gives us the place and time to connect with God, yourself, your own family, and your church family.

To be sure there are fun family memories with fellowship, baseball, crackling campfires (with marshmallows!), crafts, beach time (with swimming if you can brave the cold) and the occasional silly camp songs. Didn't you know that roasting marshmallows can be done at any age??

And if it has been awhile since you attended camp, don't let sleeping in a camp cottage put you off the adventure! HCC has well maintained buildings with all the amenities you might expect at a certified children's camp....minus valet parking!

As Peter expressed, “I would encourage all parishioners, families, individuals, couples, seniors, everyone, to seriously consider attending next years retreat. The word Family in this sense does not mean Mom, Dad and Kids only, the word Family in this instance means all members of the St. Anne's Christian Family, and that includes all of us.”

Many of us will be returning to our Family Retreat Camp next year given the chance. Will you join us?

A Camp Meal Blessing (Johnny Appleseed Grace)
The Lord is good to me, and so I thank the Lord,
for giving me the things I need, The sun and the rain and the apple seed,

the Lord is good to me.

Oh, and every seed I sow will grow into a tree.
And someday there'll be apples there
For everyone in the world to share,
Oh, the Lord is good to me.
