St. Anne's Anglican Church (Byron)

Parish Council
The running of the parish of St. Anne’s takes your commitment and talents.   We need a strong Parish Council team to assist and enrich the life of St. Anne’s & the community.
All members of Vestry (16+ yrs of age, identifiably involved with congregation in regular worship, fellowship & financial support of St. Anne’s; Canon18) are eligible to become members of the Parish Council.

The positions to be filled are:

Alternate Lay Delegates (3)    General Council Members (4 - 11)
Youth Representative (1) appointed

Church Warden – The wardens act as the executive officers of the Parish and use their best efforts to carry out all lawful resolutions of the Vestry of the congregation.  They are members of Medway Deanery Great Chapter and are invited to attend Great Chapter meetings usually held 4 times a year.  The wardens are expected to be familiar with all aspects of the Parish Council and are honorary members of all Parish groups.

Deputy Church Warden – The duties of the deputy wardens are to assist the wardens in the performance of their duties and to perform such specific duties as may be assigned to them by the Wardens, the Parish Council, the Vestry or the Rector.  They are members of Medway Deanery Great Chapter and are invited to attend Great Chapter meetings usually held 4 times a year.  The deputy churchwardens are expected to be familiar with all aspects of the Parish Council.

Lay Delegates - Lay Delegates to Synod represent the parish at all Synod meetings.  They are members of Medway Deanery Great Chapter and are expected to attend Great Chapter meetings usually held 4 times a year.  They are expected to attend the annual Synod meeting (2.5 days in May) and any other meetings, though rare, called by Synod.  Lay delegates are members of the Parish Council.

Alternate Lay Delegates - Alternate Lay Delegates to Synod are to be available to attend Synod meetings if any lay delegate is unavailable.  They are members of Medway Deanery Great Chapter and are expected to attend Great Chapter meetings usually held 4 times a year.  Alternate lay delegates are also members of the Parish Council.

General Parish Council Members - The Parish Council acts to represent the Vestry of the congregation between meetings of the Vestry.  Member’s attendance at Parish Council meetings during the year is important.  There are, at present, 10 meetings, which are usually held the third Wednesday of the month.  Members act as liaisons to at least one other standing committee of the parish and report to council on group accomplishments.  A partial list of some of the committees follows:  Budget & Finance, Cemetery Board, Christian Education, Communications, Green Team, Health & Safety, Nominating Committee, Outreach & Social Justice, Pastoral Care, Picnic Committee, Property, Safe Church, Sunday School, Welcoming Ministry and Worship Team.
