St. Anne's Anglican Church (Byron)
A friendly community church

Thank you to the Parish for your incredible contributions.
We are excited that Enter Hope Ministries we lifted up will be part of 2010 Western Fair

Outreach Team
St. Anne’s Outreach Team had an exciting and ambitious start to 2010 with the launch of our Enter Hope series. With a goal towards opening doors to local and global social justice issues, the Outreach Team selected 7 wonderful outreach projects and groups to be recognized each Sunday over Eastertide.

Beginning the series was guest speaker Brad Barton from London CAReS, an integrated strategy to address the needs of those living with the effects of poverty, homelessness, addiction, and mental illness in our community. Following London CAReS, a presentation was given by Marguerite F., Barb K., Eleanor C., Ardyth L. and Yvonne P. on The Daily Bread Food Bank and Fellowship Centre focussing on the extensive work of the organization.

Guest speaker Pam Hill gave an insightful presentation on Camp Wendake for Week 3 of the Enter Hope Series. Camp Wendake (Huron for “a place set apart”) is a camp for people living with HIV/AIDS and their care-givers and families.

In recognition of the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund on May 2nd, St. Anne’s congregation was treated to a video presentation of the Primate’s message and conversation with Bishop Desmond Tutu.

Elizabeth L. was our next guest speaker with an excellent message from Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre accompanied by heart warming photos of the furry and feathered inhabitants of the Centre.

Bethany R. provided us with a wonderful presentation on her project “Bethany’s Dream Fund” followed by a Coffee House fundraiser with live entertainment in the parish hall.

Habitat for Humanity was our final feature of the Enter Hope series with speaker Denise C. Denise spoke on the history of Habitat for Humanity and her personal journey towards a new home for her family.

The Outreach Team would like to use this opportunity to thank the St. Anne’s community for the tremendous outpouring of support for this series. White socks, canned goods, rolls and rolls of paper towel, and monetary donations continue to flow in. Your fantastic response for requests of much needed items and financial support for these organizations has been remarkable and much appreciated!

As an extension of the Enter Hope series, St. Anne’s and the Byron community were treated to a special evening social event on Friday, May 7th, featuring a presentation on global aid and development through the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund.  Guest speaker Rev. Canon Greg Smith, Chair, Diocesan PWRDF and Rector, Christ Church, London delivered an excellent presentation celebrating the work of the PWRDF in Haiti, Temba, and Latin America while focusing on much needed work still to be done. Canon Smith was accompanied by musical director, performer and recording artist Mr. Marque Smith who performed several songs highlighting the presentation for a very receptive audience. (Watch for the news item in the June edition of Huron Church News).  The rest of 2010 promises to be just as exciting with plans to launch a coffee house series and a continuation of our Community Events. Watch for announcements in the bulletin and “Save the Date”!

Enter Hope 2010
“We use our Gifts in Loving Service”

Let us enter the Easter season.....April 4 – May 23, 2010

“Enter Hope” is an Eastertide 7-week series at St. Anne’s.  Your Outreach team invites you to help us to open doors, both in our lives and the lives of others who are making a difference by ensuring vital resources and services reach those who need them most, from furry critters in a local wildlife rehabilitation centre, to people living in London streets and across the globe.  Each week we will focus on one of six wonderful outreach projects and groups; hear guest speakers; see visual presentations on their work; and be invited to take action with gifts of time or wish list items placed in our ENTER HOPE baskets.

Everyone needs hope, somebody needs you.
