The Outreach Team is calling on volunteers to assist with soup making days which will start after the Bazaar. We will be making “St. Anne’s Comfort Soup” which will be frozen in small and large size containers and be available for the rector to distribute to those in need.
A brief history of the soup. It is a combination of Marjorie S.'s Vegetable Soup Recipe and Marg R.'s own recipe. Marg mentioned she had this recipe, but added 3/4 lb of ground beef and called it 'Comfort Soup'. We liked the name Comfort Soup so we called it
St. Anne's Comfort Soup.

1 large garlic clove minced
3/4 lb. lean ground beef
Saute the above in 2 TBSP. veg. oil or butter.

About Daily Bread
St. Paul's Daily Bread Program, a registered charity, is an ecumenical social service provider supported by over 50 London and area churches of various denominations, a number of service and fraternal organizations and hundreds of caring individuals on a regular ongoing basis. A volunteer board of directors oversees the operation of our food bank that serves 800-900 families a month as well as the Fellowship Centre, which provides a delicious, nutritious lunch, fellowship and a comfortable, welcoming place for adults dealing with poverty, homelessness or unemployment five days a week. Our Christmas Share program provides hampers of gifts and groceries for 200 families a year who are referred to us through our supporting churches and various community organizations. Our newest initiative is our Les Peterson Memorial Camp Fund to assist children from low income families enjoy the opportunities of attending summer camps.
Except for a small annual grant through the Ministry of Community and Social Services in London, and the Sisters of St. Joseph, we rely solely on donations to fund these operations.
The Daily Bread Program is available to anyone need in the community who is in need and is one of the few agencies in London that offers emergency financial assistance in crisis situations pertaining to shelter and/or utilities cut off as funds permit. We are experiencing increased requests for assistance with medical prescriptions and necessities from people on low or no income. Through our work we have developed a greater awareness of how we can help many recent refugees to Canada find their way through the maze of bureaucracy to help with their special needs. Daily Bread also provides vouchers for clothing and household needs from the Mission Store operated by Missions Services and vouchers for gently used mattresses from the Sleep Country Distribution Centre. Although we are no longer able to accept furniture donations, we do pass the information along so those in need can benefit from these offers.
Advocacy for the disadvantaged of London is an important focus of the program as Daily Bread works in partnership with many agencies in London, being actively involved in the Housing Support Services /THAW program, Health Access Group, Advocates Group, Networking for an Inclusive Community, with the aim of easing the burden on our brothers and sisters living with the indignities of poverty and marginalization in a society that increasingly is penalizing the poor and is experiencing greater gaps between the haves and the have-nots.
