H1NI Pandemic Virus A Message from the Diocese of Huron
In view of the arrival of the second wave of the H1N1 pandemic virus, congregations are reminded that the virus is readily transmitted through touch, so at the sharing of the peace and at times of greeting  and departure at worship and other church functions, please avoid excessive contact, and be very respectful of those who choose to avoid handshaking entirely. At the time of communion, please remember that it is the expectation that Intinction will not be practiced in our congregations, and be assured that taking communion in one kind (bread only) is a valid way of participating in the Eucharist.  Receiving from the common cup, by sipping, is still available.   In the meantime, you are urged, as always, to uphold in prayer your brothers and sisters in the faith who are suffering from this illness, and to be understanding if your priest is absent from worship from time to time. They will take this action only as necessary to protect you from unnecessary risk of exposure to the virus. Thank you for your assistance and understanding at this time, as always.

The Bethlehem Walk is an outdoor multi-media interactive event portraying the events surrounding the birth of Jesus two thousand years ago. Journey with your extended Bible-times family to Bethlehem, the home of your ancestral family. Visit with Mary, Joseph and their donkey as they rest along the road. Hear the shepherds tell their story of how the angels appeared to them in their fields. Encounter the angels yourself as they tell you the announcement of Jesus' birth. See the wise men as they bring their gifts. Experience the sights, sounds and aromas of the market of Bethlehem. Pay your taxes to the Roman authorities. See the star shining over the stable, and find the baby Jesus in the manger. Learn how you can have a personal relationship with Him today!

Join your St. Anne’s family for a journey to Bethlehem on Friday, November 20th.  Our tour is booked for 8:10 p.m., and the bus will leave the church parking lot at 7:00 p.m. Watch for sign-up sheets.

You are also welcome to book and drive your own vehicle.  Admission is free and refreshments will be served. This is an outdoor event; please dress appropriately!  Bethlehem Walk is located at Crossroads Alliance church, on Oxford Road 119 between Thamesford and Ingersoll, Ontario (right by Dicksons Corners).
Please contact Allison or Sara or the office.

Dear St. Anne's Family,
I would like to thank everyone who so generously gave of their time to help me complete the friends and family portion of my sweat equity agreement.  I am truly overwhelmed at the response and feel quite blessed.  I would like to send a special thank you to Janet, Jamie and Noble, if it weren't for you taking a special interest and encouraging me to let you bring this to the attention of the congregation I would still be struggling, worrying and stressing!

In May of this year I had completed about 75 hours toward my sweat equity hours.  I am very pleased to say that as of the end of September I have completed 411 sweat equity hours!!  I'm in the home stretch with approximately 40 hours of friends and family hours and about 50 family hours left to do!  I could NOT have done this without my wonderful St. Anne's family.  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

I am pleased to be able to inform you that it has been confirmed that our home will be ready for us to move into in the spring of 2010 (barring any red-tape issues with the city).  Our home will be located on Springbank Drive at the entrance to Greenway Park, this gets us much closer to St. Anne's than we currently are.  Zac and I are both excited as we enter into this new chapter of our lives!

God bless you all!  Denise

Whether at family meal times or bedtime, or alone with your morning coffee, consider purchasing an advent calendar this year and enjoy!  The windows are numbered and one is opened each day to Christmas. Behind the windows are pictures or bible verses that point to Christmas.

Contrary to popular belief, advent calendars with chocolates behind them or pictures of Santa are simply not Advent calendars at all nor do they draw you closer to anything.

Everyone is welcome at St. Anne's
Parking!! Over the Christmas season when church services are usually crowded, we would remind people to please park between the lines on our parking lot.

I am one of the eight contemporaries of Bob Mills ordained Deacon with him in 1954 and similarly priested the following year. I served in Grand Bend and Thedford when Bob was Rector of Watford, each of us in the Deanery of Lambton, and we used to visit back and forth and attend meetings together in those early days. Later, when I was serving in Paris, Ontario, Bob was Rector of St. Anne's, Byron, and when he moved on to Aylmer, I succeeded him in Byron, where for the next 18 years I had Bob's mother Madeline as a treasured parishioner -- and also as active and valued parishioners for the latter part of those years Bob's daughter Susan and Bent and family.

Until a decade ago I used to see Bob from time to time and I am greatly saddened by his passing. He now joins Errol Shilliday and Syd Lupton, who have also gone on to God's Other Country (as Bishop Luxton used to call Heaven). I know that Cy Ladds, Jack Bielby, Bill Rowles and I survive him. (I don't know about Ed Attwell and Chuck Wilkins.) I'm sure they feel diminished by Bob's death as I do, as we become increasingly a vanishing breed. We had a great day, however, and I was proud to be Bob's friend -- and colleague in ministry, even to the same dear people at St. Anne's! My hearfelt sympathy to Susan, Bent, and all the Mills family who have lost their Father, Grandpa, and friend.
(Rev'd Canon) Morley E. Pinkney

We are delighted to welcome Sara as our new Head Server and will be giving thanks in October, for former servers who have retired as they move to university and colleges. Our first group of new apprentice server's will be robing and receiving their training over the next two months.  Welcome Adam and Nathan and Bryson!

We are happy to also welcome back student minister Jonathan Askwith who is completing his Masters of Divinity at Huron College and under our rector's supervision and the support of the parish, is completing a year of field education at St. Anne's.  We look forward to Jonathan's ministry among us!

Stewardship Prayer
O God, I resolve to put You first in my life.
I recognize that You have blessed me with all that I have and all that I am.
As your steward, I resolve to sacrifice when necessary but always to do so out of a spirit of sincere love, just as your Son, Jesus, did for me.
I humbly accept the challenge to share from my means rather than from my excess.
I recognize that being a good steward is nothing more than being truly Christian.
Dear God, I resolve, to be generous with my time, talent and treasure, giving in proportion to the gifts I have been given.
I commit myself to taking care of my body and all creation.
I know there will be times when I will fail to be a good steward, but I pledge to keep on trying.
I will confidently live each day with a spirit of true peace and joy in knowing that I am doing your will.  Amen

Did you know?
Many churches rent or provide on a free-of-charge basis, church-owned facilities to others.  In some cases, rental of church-owned facilities can provide badly needed revenue, or at the very least, represent a magnanimous gesture of the church’s Christian values; to allow non-profit or charitable groups to use church premises at little or no cost.

However, many do not fully appreciate the implications of sharing space with ‘third parties’ (individuals or organizations not under the control of the church).
If a tenant causes damage to the church premises or premises of other, or causes bodily injury to others, this can potentially impact on the church.

The Anglican Church of Canada Insurance Program offers a low-cost General Liability insurance for a single event or a long-term user.  This is an important part of running your church.

St. Anne's Benches
The wooden and iron memorial benches donated by Alan and by Joan have been refurbished and relocated to welcome travelers entering St. Anne's lovely black iron gates.  The former park bench was very unsafe and has been removed...  The red colour is a symbol of the blood of Christ and our entry, by His Passion, into salvation.  It is also the colour associated with the martyrs, the seeds of the church."

The 3 new black benches located in the gazebo and magenta coloured bench outside the church office door were recently donated by Robert Davidson in loving memory of his parents Peter and Mary Ellen Davidson whose ashes were scattered in August 2009 in an outdoor service in our newly consecrated scattering garden
