H1NI Pandemic Virus A Message from the Diocese of Huron
In view of the arrival of the second wave of the H1N1 pandemic virus, congregations are reminded that the virus is readily transmitted through touch, so at the sharing of the peace and at times of greeting  and departure at worship and other church functions, please avoid excessive contact, and be very respectful of those who choose to avoid handshaking entirely. At the time of communion, please remember that it is the expectation that Intinction will not be practiced in our congregations, and be assured that taking communion in one kind (bread only) is a valid way of participating in the Eucharist.  Receiving from the common cup, by sipping, is still available.   In the meantime, you are urged, as always, to uphold in prayer your brothers and sisters in the faith who are suffering from this illness, and to be understanding if your priest is absent from worship from time to time. They will take this action only as necessary to protect you from unnecessary risk of exposure to the virus. Thank you for your assistance and understanding at this time, as always.

The Bethlehem Walk is an outdoor multi-media interactive event portraying the events surrounding the birth of Jesus two thousand years ago. Journey with your extended Bible-times family to Bethlehem, the home of your ancestral family. Visit with Mary, Joseph and their donkey as they rest along the road. Hear the shepherds tell their story of how the angels appeared to them in their fields. Encounter the angels yourself as they tell you the announcement of Jesus' birth. See the wise men as they bring their gifts. Experience the sights, sounds and aromas of the market of Bethlehem. Pay your taxes to the Roman authorities. See the star shining over the stable, and find the baby Jesus in the manger. Learn how you can have a personal relationship with Him today!

Join your St. Anne’s family for a journey to Bethlehem on Friday, November 20th.  Our tour is booked for 8:10 p.m., and the bus will leave the church parking lot at 7:00 p.m. Watch for sign-up sheets.

You are also welcome to book and drive your own vehicle.  Admission is free and refreshments will be served. This is an outdoor event; please dress appropriately!  Bethlehem Walk is located at Crossroads Alliance church, on Oxford Road 119 between Thamesford and Ingersoll, Ontario (right by Dicksons Corners).
Please contact Allison or Sara or the office.

Thank You Cards from St. Anne’s Candidates for the Bishop’s Award for Excellence in Ministry

The Reverend Canon Janet Lynall, St. Anne’s Parish Council and
all the good people of St. Anne’s:
It was quite disarming to receive the letter in the mail informing Gayle and I that we were to be recipients of the Bishop’s Award for Excellence in Ministry.  We would like you to know how honoured and grateful we feel to have even been considered let alone chosen from a parish where so many people do so much for God’s ministry and who are more deserving.  To you, our most heartfelt thanks for your recognition for what has been a labour of love.

God Bless!  Humbly, David and Gayle.

Canon Janet, Parish Council and Members of St. Anne’s
Murray and I are humbled by the honour you have given us by submitting our names to the Bishops, to receive the “Bishop’s Award for Excellence in Ministry”. Its’ always been our pleasure to serve in the various capacities of the church life, both here at St. Anne’s and Christ Church, Delaware, and we’ve done so without expecting any extra recognition .Sincerely, thank you for your love, your friendship and your faith in us fulfilling God’s work at St. Anne’s.

Eternally grateful, Murray and Audrey

Dear St. Anne's Family,
I would like to thank everyone who so generously gave of their time to help me complete the friends and family portion of my sweat equity agreement.  I am truly overwhelmed at the response and feel quite blessed.  I would like to send a special thank you to Janet, Jamie and Noble, if it weren't for you taking a special interest and encouraging me to let you bring this to the attention of the congregation I would still be struggling, worrying and stressing!

In May of this year I had completed about 75 hours toward my sweat equity hours.  I am very pleased to say that as of the end of September I have completed 411 sweat equity hours!!  I'm in the home stretch with approximately 40 hours of friends and family hours and about 50 family hours left to do!  I could NOT have done this without my wonderful St. Anne's family.  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

I am pleased to be able to inform you that it has been confirmed that our home will be ready for us to move into in the spring of 2010 (barring any red-tape issues with the city).  Our home will be located on Springbank Drive at the entrance to Greenway Park, this gets us much closer to St. Anne's than we currently are.  Zac and I are both excited as we enter into this new chapter of our lives!

God bless you all!  Denise

Contrary to popular belief, advent calendars with chocolates behind them or pictures of Santa are simply not Advent calendars at all nor do they draw you closer to anything.

Everyone is welcome at St. Anne's
Parking!! Over the Christmas season when church services are usually crowded, we would remind people to please park between the lines on our parking lot.

Week 2 Serve November 15 – 22
by Rev. Ken Brooks
I want to encourage all of us to participate in the Diocesan Week2Serve which is coming up soon.  This is an opportunity for us to take part in new outreach in the community around us.  As encouraged by the Diocese:

Announced at our last Diocesan Synod, this is a program to help stimulate and encourage fresh outreach ministry in your congregation. Our desire is to encourage every member of the Diocese to do two hours of ministry in their community that they have never done before. If every member of the Diocese does this between November 15 and 22, the accumulation of hours will total exactly the same number of hours (24/7) that that Jesus served in his three years up public ministry before his Crucifixion.

The suggestions for participation include such things as volunteering to cut a neighbour’s lawn or weed their garden, give time to a local food bank or Daily Bread, help at the Sunday School for a day, write or telephone someone like a shut in who would appreciate hearing from someone, cook up something and give it to your neighbour or a friend, give someone a ride, gather up things you no longer need and donate them to someplace like the Salvation Army, and the list goes on and on.  We will share the list of suggestions with you, and hope that you will participate.  But we also want to know!  Tell us on November 22nd what you have done!  Let us share with others that St. Anne’s has reached out to serve our community!

Upcoming Holy Baptism November 22, 2009 at 10:00 am with Praise Band
Holy Baptism is a 'sacrament': a visible sign of God's love.  It marks the beginning of a journey with God which continues for the rest of our lives, the first step in response to God’s love.

Baptism is a joyful moment when we rejoice in what God has done for us in Christ, making serious promises and declaring the Christian faith. The wider community of the local church and friends welcome the new Christian, promising support and prayer for the future.  In Baptism, united with the whole Church throughout the ages, we journey into the fullness of God’s love.  Jesus said, ‘I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.’ (John 10.10)

Baptism is not only for babies!  Any un-Baptized person - of whatever age - wishing to live and grow in the Christian faith can ask to be Baptized.

Glory to God!   With our parish hall sound renovations completed we are delighted to also be dedicating on Baptism Sunday newly installed sound baffling and sound system.  Come, let us worship and give thanks!!

Ministry, are welcome to call Mona.

How the Grinch Stole Missions!!!!  Sunday December 20, 2009 at 4:00  p.m.
pot luck dinner  Rehearsals in Sunday School Nov/Dec

“The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season! Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason. It could be his head wasn't screwed on just right. It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight. But I think that the most likely reason of all May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.they're hanging their stockings!" he snarled with a sneer, "Tomorrow is Christmas! It's practically here!" Then he growled, with his Grinch fingers nervously drumming, "I MUST find some way to stop Christmas from coming!"

White Gift Sundays
November 29 & December 6th, Donations of unwrapped gifts for all ages, non-perishable food, gift wrap and money donations are most appreciated.  Please place at the front of the church beneath the pulpit. Further details will be posted on our Outreach bulletin board in the parish hall.  Daily Bread welcomes your help in preparing, packaging and delivering gifts.

If you’d like to help please call Daily Bread:

As Christmas approaches, let us think about our “White Gifts” project.  St. Anne’s take in our White Gifts when Advent begins. Through Daily Bread at the Cathedral, they are distributed to those in need. We do well with our generosity; however, there is always more we could do.  These gifts are meant to help those in need in our community.  Low income individuals and families may not be able to meet regular daily expenses on the little that they have. The amount provided to the disabled is embarrassingly low for a society as well off as ours. Many on welfare are unable to find long term employment that pays well because they don't have the skills needed.  Others don't have the resources to improve their skills.  There are many others working in low paying jobs. There is no extra to provide for Christmas. Families with children find it particularly difficult since their children, once again, will go without.

Let’s make an effort to help!   Let’s be intentional with our seasonal giving!

When the time comes, be as generous as you can to help those in our community enjoy the season as most of us do.  Let’s make them part of St. Anne’s extended family, and give to them as we would give to other members of our family.
Yours Faithfully, Rev Ken Brooks, Deacon
