Welcoming all Worshippers to St. Anne’s
The Welcoming Ministry has been busy during the summer providing lemonade on the Lawn after our Sunday services. We will continue this act of "fellowship" until September 6th, 2009. Thank you to all who assisted and participated in enjoying the refreshments. Many thanks to all of our "hosts/hostesses". A job well done. A warm appreciation to the Parish Hostess Group who assisted in offsetting the cost of lemonade.
We are presently preparing table signage for the Western Fair. This advises our patrons, at the booth, "who we are" and "why not come and enjoy more of St. Anne's hospitality" at our quaint little church in Byron.
We now have available a church brochure for all, especially newcomers. This will assist those that are not familiar with St. Anne's or the Anglican liturgy. Our guests will find it very user-friendly and this will result in a more enjoyable service for them.
This fall we will implement our "greeters" orientation. Please feel free to contact one of your committee members if you would like to assist with this very vital ministry.
We all must be a part of our Welcoming Ministry and provide those entering our doors with a friendly and sincere reception.
As one passes through our doors, the Passion of the Christ should flow over you. Soon you will start to see data on the symbolism of the Passion of Christ and the Blood of Christ in our homilies, as well as, print material distributed in the Church (narthex) and Parish Hall. Feel free to seek out what these symbols mean to each of us as changes start to occur in the Parish. Our entry into Salvation and the Blood of Christ is part of the symbolism that we hope to attain. More information on this in future readings.
Greeter’s ministry
Hospitality at St. Anne's has many faces. The sidespeople who welcome you with a service bulletin and book, the peace we share in worship, the clergy's greetings as you begin or leave worship, the Hostess Groups' offer of a cup of coffee or parishioner’s offer of summer lemonade, all say welcome...
Greeting and following up with visitors and regulars at church is such an important part of our hospitality ministry that St. Anne's is building up our greeters team again. First impressions are so important in expressing the love and joy of Christ that binds us together at St. Anne's. Sidespeople have their hands full giving out service books before service, greeters have the advantage, by standing outside or just inside the church doors or by the parish hall and parking lot, of focusing on the needs of newcomers and having time to guide/respond to ensuring they are comfortable. In this way every person, visitor or member, entering God's house, is further greeted and made to feel welcome and at home.
Please consider joining St. Anne's Greeters Team. Who can be a greeter? You! A friendly smile and manner makes you perfect for this ministry. Families, individuals or couples make great greeters. We will offer you some simple training tips/instructions to ensure you feel prepared and comfortable. You will be on a rotating schedule similar to other ministries, and have the option to switch dates with other greeters to suit your personal schedule. The welcoming team will kick off our greeter’s ministry in September. Look for their friendly welcome!
Sign up, call office or speak directly to clergy, wardens or welcoming chairperson, Noble if you are willing to consider this ministry.
