Born Again

Who is the one that denies Jesus, the almighty God? It is he who does not believe that Jesus is God who created the entire universe (Genesis 1:1-3, John 1:10-12). "Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also" (1 John 2:23). He who believes that Jesus, who is God and the Savior, came by the gospel of the water and the Spirit to deliver all sinners from their sins, is saved from all his sins, and becomes a child of God the Father. The First Epistle of John states that Jesus, who is God, came to us by the gospel of the water and the Spirit, and that He is the Son of God the Father. The Book, in other words, mostly emphasizes that Jesus is God (1 John 5:20), and concretely testifies the gospel of the water and the Spirit in chapter 5. We must not hesitate to believe that Jesus Christ is God and to follow Him.   more...

An Easter Encounter Embracing Christ's pain helps us appreciate the joy of His resurrection. By Tiffany Colter   more...

Last Easter, my pastor asked me to give a brief talk on "what the Cross means to me." I have always been a visually oriented person. I love the way things look: a vase of flowers placed in precisely the right spot on a sidetable, a few shells piled on the kitchen windowsill, the arrangement of a poem. While I may not remember the name of someone I've just met, I will have a catalogue of other information: the shape of the person's smile, looks of strain or wariness, the color of his or her eyes.   more...

Are you wondering about Mel Gibson's New Move, The Passion of Christ? - Click HereCould The Passion of the Christ stir up flames of ethnic hatred?

Some of our Jewish neighbors fear that Mel Gibson’s film about the last hours of Christ will set the calendar back. Many remember the long history of anti-Semitism that surfaced in the writings of Church fathers, the Crusades, and the Holocaust.

Now as large numbers of people see Christ suffer in a powerful and graphic reenactment, a question surfaces. Will those angered by Christ’s horrific abuse feel contempt for those whose ancestors asked for Jesus’ death? Not if they listen carefully and take note of everyone who had a hand in His suffering.

The Storm Is OverThe Storm Is Over
Bishop T.D. Jakes & The Potter's House Mass Choir (Dexterity Sounds / EMI Gospel)
by Russ Breimeier

DiscussListenBuy

The Storm Is Over marks the debut of Dexterity Sounds, a new joint recording venture between EMI Gospel and Bishop T.D. Jakes of The Potter's House Church in Dallas. Jakes is a popular and successful minister, reaching out across ethnicity and social status to thousands of people via the arts. After ministering through television, books, and theatre (Woman, Thou Art Loosed), Jakes now launches into the music arena with his church's choir. You can hear Bishop Jakes speak between and during several tracks on The Storm Is Over, but the real focus is on The Potter's House Mass Choir.

Musically, The Potter's House Mass Choir crosses several boundaries, somewhere between contemporary pop and traditional black gospel with a healthy dose of R&B sprinkled here and there. The highlights of the album feature some well-known talent. The title track is an inspiring pop/R&B song written by mainstream success R. Kelly. Well-known gospel artist Donnie McClurkin demonstrates his vocal prowess on "Let Your Glory Fill This Place." The modern gospel flavored "When My Season Comes" features the talents of vocalist Myron Williams. And "Marvelous" features a knockout vocal performance by acclaimed vocalist Beverly Crawford. There's probably a little more pop in here compared to many other R&B-seasoned gospel projects, but if you like contemporary pop and gospel music mixed together fairly evenly, you'll want to check out this highly anticipated debut from Bishop Jakes and The Potter's House Mass Choir.
