2. Simplify the Abortion Issue
Not about choice, privacy, poverty, or rights
One question, "What is the unborn?"
If the unborn in not a human being, no justification for abortion is necessary. If the unborn is a human being, no justification for abortion is adequate.
It’s not about the privacy between a woman and her doctor. The right to privacy always has limits when someone else’s welfare is at stake.
It’s not about freedom of choice. Freedom to choose is always limited if it affects the welfare of another human being.
It’s not about rape. If the unborn is a human being, she should not be killed just so the mother isn’t reminded of a traumatic event.
It’s not about dangerous illegal abortions. The law cannot be faulted for making the killing of an innocent child risky.
It’s not about poverty. Killing is not justified by economic hardship.
It’s not about forcing women to be parents. A pregnant woman is already a parent and parents cannot escape their responsibilities by killing their children.
It’s not about the mother’s life being in danger. The unborn must be treated as fully human and valuable as the mother.
Moral claim: It is wrong to intentionally kill innocent human beings.
