A Non-Denominational Church is a church that is not affiliated with any traditional organized religion. They are also referred to as Independent or Free Churches. Most religions nowadays are governed by a “higher authority”(in addition to God), such as an assembly, presbytery, or association. These “higher authorities” have the power to interpret Scripture as they see fit, and to require all member churches to accept and follow their interpretations.
Over the past twenty years, God’s Holy Word has been interpreted increasingly more liberally, in some cases to the point of condoning actions that God has clearly stated to be abominations or sinful acts. While many mainstream religions have remained relatively conservative, we feel that the Church, defined in Scripture as the Body of Christ, does not belong under the authority of men, but instead under the Headship of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
We felt the Holy Spirit calling us to form and after prayerful deliberation, we agreed not to affiliate with any organized religion, thereby freeing us from the legalism that, in some cases, has allowed men to pervert the Scriptures for un-Godly purposes. We chose as our “Higher Authority”, Jesus Christ, Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
What this means is that when we have a major decision facing us, as a part of the Church, each member prayerfully considers what is before us and relies on the Holy Spirit to guide them in expressing what God lays on their heart. We believe that in this way God’s will is being sought and applied.
We also believe that the Bible is the ultimate “book of church order” to be followed as closely as possible. Our formation and services are based on what we believe to be accurate Scriptural foundations. When different translations seem to present conflicting answers, we turn to the original language manuscripts for clarification.
