Our Saviour Lutheran Church
"It's Of Jesus We Tell In Fort Qu'Appelle!"

What is Divine Service? Why do we come to church? What do we get out of it? Often the Divine Service is misunderstood. Coming to Sunday morning Service is not our service to God earning merit in heaven. In fact, the term “Divine Service” (from the German “Gottesdienst”) gives it away. When we come to Sunday Service, it is God who comes to serve us! He comes to us by His Holy Word and His Holy Sacraments, forgiving our sins and strengthening our faith. God always comes to us first in Divine Service, and then we respond with thanks and praise for what God has done for us through song and prayer. We can always be assured that when we come to Divine Service that God is present in His Word and Sacraments forgiving our sins and strengthening our faith because that is His promise to us.
