D. CONCLUSION
To conclude this report, brothers and sisters, I would like to express our appreciation for the support you have continued to give to the Society. In 2003, when the senior staff of the UBS World Service Center in Reading held meetings with us here in Nairobi, Mr. Anthony Harrops, the Publishing Consultant of the UBS remarked “BSK is in the throes of taking off. The most dangerous time for a plane is in its take off and in its landing, especially the taking off. Once it has left the runway, the plane cannot come back immediately, and must keep on climbing. To attempt to land again immediately is a disaster” In year 2004, your Bible Society posted an income over expenditure of Ksh. 8,308,059, and in 2005 this was increased to Ksh. 11,985,169.50. This, as the Treasurer will tell you is as a result of Church, individual and corporate giving, Scripture distribution that has products that can contribute to the income of the Bible Society while maintaining the affordability of Scriptures, innovative fundraising methods and general cost containment by the management and staff. We cannot afford not to fly on! All of us must “put safety belts” as we take off. Absolute unity of purpose and direction must be seen from all the stakeholders.
It is my prayer that the words of Paul to the Philippians in Chapter 4:13 “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (ESV) will be our rallying call in 2006. What can we do without His enabling? And when He has enabled us, why should we not run with Him in His mission? These last two years have been very exciting in BSK. It is my prayer that year 2006 will be as exciting as we go about our God’s business: To make the Word of God available to all people in Kenya and to promote use of Scriptures in Kenya, so that His people may experience changed lives as a result of use of Scriptures. May our Lord reward each one of us as he deems fit for our faithfulness in His work.
Thanks you for coming to this National Annual General Meeting. Please carry our love with you to your churches, Branches and families.
Fredrick J. Kinyua
BSK Board Chairman
