BSK Staff welcomed by church leaders in Mombasa
On the 18th – 21st April 2006 a team of BSK staff were down at the coastal town of Mombasa on a mission to enhance relationships with the churches. During this time the Rev. William Matolo who is BSK’s Church Relations Coordinator and Mr. Thomas Tharao the Resource Mobilization Manager visited a number of churches and participated various forms of church leaders.
They held meetings with: Pastor James Githui the Executive Director SDA Kenya Coast Field, Archbishop Boniface Lele, Archbishop of the Coast Catholic Archdiocese, Rt. Rev. Pius Kagwii – Bishop Methodist Church of Kenya Mombasa and Rev. Julius Mbugua Presbytery Moderator of Pwani.
Rev. William Matolo was given an audience at the synod meeting of the ACK Diocese of Mombasa led by Bishop Julius Kalu. There were 120 participants both lay and Clergy. Rev. Matolo shared on the opportunities that are available for partnership between the churches and the BSK.
A Pastors’ Symposium was held as planned on 20th April 2006 at the Mombasa Pentecostal Church. Those in attendance were 34 in number with a wide representation of different denominations. The presenters Dr. Muthwii and Pastor Akali did a good job as they talked about the use of the Bible and why there are many translations of the Bible in the English language. There was a very lively debate with a majority of the Pastors asking questions and making comments.
It is our prayer that this trip down to the coast will enhance relationships between churches and BSK that more people in Kenya may have access to the word of God.
