Spring 2008 Letter to King Cove
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I just wanted to share some thoughts with you as we move, ever so slowly, from winter to warmer weather. Basketball season is winding down, and before we know it the school year will end, the alders will turn green, the bears will roam the hills and, hopefully, an abundant crop of all berries will come forth.
Quite often we are asked the question, "When are you leaving?" Or, "How long are you going to be here?" The answer is simple: Until GOD leads us elsewhere. Opportunities to go elsewhere abound, yet we will not be moved except by the guiding hand of God as He leads us day by day through His Word. God alone led us here, speaking to us through several scriptures, as I shared with you in our Christmas letter. And ONLY GOD can move us from here. In our first year in King Cove, it has truly become "home" to us. God has placed a love in our hearts for the people here, and we PRAY for you daily.
I was asked by a friend last Friday if I was ready to leave Alaska yet, because several people were interested in asking me to come Pastor their church in middle Tennessee. I responded that I felt as if our work here with the Lord had just begun. God is obviously moving in the hearts of many folks here. That happens because His word is proclaimed, and it goes forth and accomplishes that which God pleases (Isaiah 55:11). I honestly do not believe that God will move us any time in the near future. We have every expectation that we will have the joy of watching our girls graduate from King Cove School, and that Taunya and I will experience "empty nest syndrome" here as well.
We would like to invite everyone to the services of King Cove Bible Chapel. Our services are designed to honor the Lord Jesus Christ. We sing old hymns that honor Christ and teach Bible doctrine. We preach the word of God, the King James Bible, without compromise. We believe that the word of God is the "sword of the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:17), and that God uses His word to work in the hearts of people. NOTHING else in the world has the power that the word of God has!
We are NOT like Joel Osteen. If you just want to feel good about yourself, and be comfortable in your sin, then stay home and watch him. We do NOT have a 'praise band.' The "Worship Leader" is the Holy Spirit of God, and we seek to worship God "in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24). True worshippers, which God seeks, worship God from their hearts. We do NOT have "healing services" like Benny Hinn. We believe that God is the great physician, and is well able to heal, but that He also chooses NOT to heal in many instances, because physical affliction draws us nearer to God, and conforms us to the image of His dear Son Jesus Christ our Lord. We receive an offering weekly, but we are not interested in, nor concerned with, your money. God owns the whole earth, and it is He alone that supplies all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). God can NOT be bought; salvation is a FREE GIFT! God does NOT want your money; He wants your HEART!!!
Let me state a fact before I close. Alcohol, material goods, vacations, drugs, fornication and adultery, wicked music (Satan's main tool is music), money and all other such things will NEVER fill the emptiness in your heart. ONLY a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ can fill that void!!!
Why don't you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior today? Why would a person ever CHOOSE to spend eternity in Hell? Because they have not believed the word of God, and have therefore been blinded by the god of this world - Satan. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4) Don't allow Satan to blind your mind, BELIEVE the Word of God, and RECEIVE Jesus Christ as Savior, TODAY, before it is eternally too late!
God loves you, and He wants to save you from your sin, and give you the gift of eternal life. Once you die, it is too late, and NOTHING can be done for your soul at that point. Hebrews 9:27 says, "...it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Luke 16 tells us that the rich man died, "...and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments..."
Friends, eternity is forever....if you died today, where would you spend it? That question is answered only by what decision you make with regard to receiving or rejecting Jesus Christ. We are praying for you.
Sincerely,
Pastor Rob
