Tim & Jan Brunk, Missionaries to Honduras

COME WELCOME TIM & JAN BRUNK TO ALABAMA

Nazarene Missions International Tour

Tim was born into a missionary family, the first of three children.  He was converted at the age of seven in Lancaster, Ohio.  His parents served in Honduras, Central America, as missionaries while Tim was in middle school and high school.  He graduated from Vennard College in 1973. While at Vennard College, during a chapel service, Tim was sanctified and knew God was confirming a call to missions.

Jan was born in a rural area near Des Arc, Arkansas.  She was the second of six children.  She experienced salvation at the age of seventeen, after listening to a televised Billy Graham Crusade.  Following her commitment to Christ she felt God’s call on her life to become a missionary while attending Ft. Wayne Bible College.  After her first year at Ft. Wayne Bible College she transferred to Vennard College in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where she graduated with a degree in Bible and Christian Education.  Following graduation from Vennard, Jan attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and graduated with a degree in elementary education.

Tim and Jan met at Vennard College and were married in 1972. They have three grown sons, Stephen, Jonathan, and David.

Both Tim and Jan completed graduate studies at Augusta State University, Augusta, Georgia.  Tim holds both the Master of Education and Educational Specialist degrees and Jan has her Masters of Education degree.

Tim and Jan served with World Gospel Mission and World Vision International in the countries of Honduras, Bolivia, and Puerto Rico for nine years.  For three years the Brunks served as pastors at the Wrens Church of the Nazarene.  They also taught in the public school system of Georgia for ten years.

The Brunks served in the MAC Regional office in Guatemala City as Regional Evangelism and JESUS Film Coordinator as well as teaching part-time in the seminary.   They then transferred to Costa Rica where Tim was the field strategy coordinator for the MAC South field and Jan the Sunday School Coordinator for the three countries of Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama, until January 1, 2007.  They have now been assigned to Honduras where Tim works with Church and Leadership Development and Janice with Compassionate Ministries and Child Sponsorship.

Meet The Barkers - Our New LINKS Missionaries

The Barkers have been serving at the Regional Office of the Church of the Nazarene in Johannesburg, South Africa, since 2003. Terry is the Regional Coordinator for the JESUS Film Ministry on the Africa Region and Diane is the regional hostess. They have also been involved in hosting a variety of teams coming to Africa for Youth in Mission, Work & Witness, and JESUS Film ministry.
In October of 2006, after their home assignment, the Barkers will be relocating to the Horn of Africa Field to continue their ministry. Terry will be involved in church planting, administration, and supervising various support ministries. Diane will be the chaplain for the mission and national staff as well as special projects coordinator. They will continue to be involved in the JESUS Film ministry on the Africa region, and have a lot to share about the great movement of God in Africa.

Prior to their present assignment the Barkers served as the senior pastoral family of St. Luke's Church of the Nazarene in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They have also served the church as missionaries in New Zealand, Australia, and the Philippines. Terry has been involved in a variety of ministries including education, administration, pastoral and leadership in each of those world areas. Diane has been involved in pastoral, educational, and administrative roles in these areas. She has been an elementary teacher in public schools and has been involved in senior adult ministries.
