MISSION AREAS REPLACE ZONES

At the March 2003 Advisory Board Meeting, action was taken to replace our District's older "Zone" structure with the newer "MISSION AREA" structure being used by the Nazarene Districts throughout the USA & Canada. The newer MISSION AREA structure focuses on impacting the total community including all people groups and communities with or without a Church of the Nazarene.  This structure's parameters and boundaries are designated by counties as follows:

BIRMINGHAM MISSION AREA:  Jefferson & St. Clair Counties, 793,884 population, 12 churches (Birmingham Center Point, Birmingham Center Point Hispanic, Birmingham First, Birmingham Forestdale, Birmingham Pleasant Grove, Birmingham Shannon, Gardendale, Hueytown, Leeds, New Hope, Steele, Trussville):

CENTRAL MISSION AREA:  Blount, Cullman, Lawrence & Morgan Counties, 274,374 population, 15 churches (Beulah, Bountsville Hispanic, Cullman First, Decatur First, Decatur Hispanic, Decatur Spring Avenue, Fairview, Faith Hayden, First Hispanic Baileyton,  Hartselle, Mount Zion, New Life Hanceville, Union Hill, Oneonta, Wilson Chapel

GADSDEN MISSION AREA: Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburn, DeKalb, Etowah & Marshall Counties, 400, 502 population , 12 churches  (Albertville First, Albertville Hispanic, Anniston First, Arab, Boaz First, Briarwood Ft. Payne, Ft. Payne Hispanic, Church at Mercy Hill, East Gadsden, Piedmont, Shiloh)

QUAD CITIES MISSION AREA: Colbert, Franklin, & Lauderdale Counties, 174, 173 population, 9 churches  (Florence First, Florence Hispanic, Mary's Chapel, Muscle Shoals, Nitrate City, Rogersville First, Russellville First, Russellville Hispanic, Sheffield First)

TENNESSEE VALLEY MISSION AREA:  Jackson, Limestone, &  Madison Counties, 396,302 population 10 churches  (Athens Hispanic, Hazel Green Community, Huntsville Calvary, Alpha Y Omega Hispanic, Huntsville First, Huntsville Southeast, Huntsville Twickenham, Huntsville University, Madison First, Scottsboro)

WALKER COUNTY MISSION AREA:  Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker & Winston Counties, 161, 169 population, 14 churches  (Berry, Boley, Codova, Fayette, Hickory Grove, Grace Chapel, Jasper First, Jasper Northside, Millport, Nauvoo, Parrish, Salem, Sarragossa, Sardis- inactive)
