Lesson Title: Baptism and Temptations
Background Scripture: Mark 1:4-13
Lesson Scripture: Mark 1:4-13
Introduction
Christian baptism has been a subject of dispute throughout the history of the Christian church with the arguments ranging from what is the correct method of baptism to who is eligible for baptism. Today's lesson deals with the significance of water baptism through the ministry of John the Baptist and the baptism of Jesus. In John's ministry, baptism was a visible sign that a person had repented of a life of sin and had turned to God. Baptism helped establish the credentials and direction of Jesus' ministry.
Persons who seek a true relationship with God must experience three things in their lives: (1) Repentance-a realization that we are sinners and our need of God. (2) Water Baptism-an outward symbol that shows our decision to let God change us into new 'creatures in Christ.' (3) Regeneration-the daily process of the Holy Spirit working in us to make us into those new people in God.

3. Temptations- Mark 1:12-13
Final Thoughts
With cable, satelite, Internet and radio/t.v. broadcasting, many different 'voices' give us an opportunity-whether we take it or not-to hear and see all kinds of 'teaching.' God's desire for His people is that we do not be 'tossed by every wind of doctrine' and that we all believe the truth as it is in Jesus. Who will you listen to?
Questions on the Lesson

2. What did the voice from heaven proclaim?
3. To overcome any temptation requires listening to God through what means given to us?
