FOCUS ON MISSIONS

Around the world the Gospel is being preached and lived out by missionaries like Don and Lillian Dwight of Taiwan. Their newsletter asked that we pray for Jhun Bongenay who has left the Filipino church in Taiwan to attend seminary in Manilla. This is a wonderful opportunity for him, but he asks that
we pray as he selets a seminary. Prayer is needed for developing leadership in the Filipino Church. Also pray for the Morrison Academy students who have made commitments to follow God, that they will grow and mature in Christ. We thank God that the city of Taichung, where the Dwights live, was spared any severe damage as it was hit by a typhoon with wind reaching 150 mph.
Exciting reports come from Eric and Meghan Johnson at Alaska Christian College. A total of 42 students - ACC's largest student body - have arrived arnd begun classes. About one-third of these students do not know the Lord yet. Pray for their lives to be transformed as they hear the Word of God. Eric and Meghan are expecting their third child and would like prayer for a healthy pregnancy, for their two boys, and for their work at Alaska Christian College.
KICY Radio in Nome, Alaska is again broadcasting at 50,000 watts to western Alaska and the Russian far east after rebuilding the towers and transmitter building last summer. They are suffering the effects of $4 a gallon heating fuel costs. It costs $13,000 a month just to power the new AM system. They are always looking for volunteers and this is a wonderful place to serve the Lord.
Pick up a Missionary Prayer booklet in the narthex. As you pray daily for different missionaries, you will become familiar with them, their families, and their needs. They covet our prayers.
