Community Covenant Church of San Andreas

Lift Up Christ to All People

Worshipping God Through Music

Welcome to the Music Ministry Web Page.  You are invited to find out more about our many groups.  Please feel free to join with us in musical service to our Lord and Savior.  If you have any questions or comments, you may email the different directors/leaders by clicking on their name below or you may direct your thoughts to the Director of Music Ministries by clicking here.

Our mission is to enhance the Gospel message that is heard in the preaching and teaching.  We hope to encourage and challenge the faithful, comfort and uplift the weary, and present the Good News of the Gospel to all seekers.  We also present an opportunity of service to all the musically inclined in our church family.

ADULT CHOIR

Wednesdays:  7:00 - 8:30 p.m. (rehearsal)

Open to High School through Senior Citizen

We regularly share anthems in the Sunday morning service from September to June, with Cantata performances at Christmas or Easter.  There is no audition required, but there is lots of help, friendship and encouragement offered.

     Director: Neil Hjelmervik

PRAISE TEAM

Tuesdays 6:30-8:00pm (Rehearsal)

Sunday 9:00-9:30 am (warm-up Rehearsal)

Sunday 10:30 am (Worship Service)

Leader: Neil Hjelmervik

The mission of the Praise Team is to lead the congregation in songs of praise and worship.  Our band consists of guitars, bass guitar, keyboard, drums and vocals.  The exact composition of the group varies over time, but our goal is to worship our God through the music we sing and play.  At every service, we hope to lead the church body to a place where the members of Christ’s church will worship Him with all their heart and soul and strength.

We are always looking for more members who have the musical gifts needed for this ministry.  We encourage new prospective members to practice with us for a few weeks and then join us in ministry on Sunday mornings.  Speak to one of the team members about joining or send an email to Neil.

 KIDS OF THE KINGDOM

Wednesdays: 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Ages: 1st - 6th Grade

This is the opportunity for all children to come together and sing a lot of fun songs.  The Kids of the Kingdom Choir sings during the Worship Service one Sunday a month.

We practice and sing from August to Easter Sunday.

     Leader: Joann Johnson

HIS BAND

(Youth Praise Band)

Time/Date: 4:45 PM Tuesdays

Age: 7th - 8th Grade

This is a group that is open to young musicians (on guitar, bass, drum set, percussion, keyboard, vocals, & horns).  We learns songs to share with others and lead them in worship and praise.  Think of a rock band.  We make a joyful noise.

     Leader: Neil Hjelmervik

ORCHESTRA

Mondays:  5:45 - 7:00 p.m. (rehearsal)

Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord!  That's our motto.  Well, it's one of them.  Sometimes we make more noise than music, but we enjoy the blessings of the music we play and the fellowship we have for those who love the Lord.

The Orchestra at San Andreas Community Covenant Church is comprised of musicians of varied experience.  We are a group of dedicated folks whose talents range from medium to advanced.  What I mean by that is that some of our players put their instruments down after high school or college and recently decided to "get with it" again, dust their instruments off and join us.  While there are others who are currently playing in bands or symphonies.

If you are among those who play at any of the above levels, have a good sense of humor and have a willingness to minister through music, feel free to stop by and check us out.  You may find the Lord is tugging you in our direction.  We rehearse Monday evenings from 5:45 to 7:00 pm in the sanctuary of the church.

     Leader: Judy Weddle

HEARTSTRINGS

Mondays 3:30-6 (Rehearsal)

The "Heartstrings" is a group of musicians made up of 3 or more violins and a piano (or keyboard).  We play prelude, offertory and/or special music for the worship service.  The music consists of variations of hymns and classical numbers.

We are also available to play for weddings and special occasions.

     Leader: Georgia Harris

MEN OF PRAISE

Thursdays:  6:30 - 10:00 p.m. (rehearsal)

Men of Praise is affiliated with SACCC as a small group.  We began in January of 1998 as a group of three men seeking to use their musical gifts.  We know have six men and are an outreach ministry of contemporary Christian music.  Openings exist within the group only when current members move out of the area.

For further information, you may check out their website (which includes their schedule) by clicking here.

ACCOMPANISTS & SOLOISTS

Whether on piano, organ, marimba, autoharp, guitar, or other instrument, accompanists are so very essential.  Do you have keyboard skills that you would like to share in our worship?

Most soloists sing, but often a flute, violin, or other instrument is heard.  In paraphrasing J.S. Bach, he said, "Let us dedicate our use of the art of music to the glory of God."

If interested in sharing your gifts please contact Neil Hjelmervik.

CONCERT OF PRAISE

Selected Sunday Mornings at 9:00 am

            Open to all

Approximately once a month we hold a Concert of Praise in our new gym facility.  It features energetic music performed by our own praise bands, with occasional guest artists.  We gather at 8:45 for coffee and donuts, and continue with 30+ minutes of praise and worship songs, scripture reading and a message by one of the pastoral staff.  After all, how can we have too many opportunities to praise and worship our loving Lord.

AUDIO/VIDEO MINISTRY TEAM

 Sundays 9:00am-12:00 ? noon

This group is always happiest when nobody notices they are there.  Their goal is to provide the sound and projected images so smoothly that it seems natural.  Folks who stop and think will realize that it takes tremendous skill, dedication, and some talent to achieve these results.  We are always hoping to find more men and women who can learn and serve in this area, high school age and older.  Luckily we have several leaders who are glad to train others in these skills.   Speak one of the staff to find out more or email Neil.
