The Episcopal Church of Saint John
TULARE, California

"What We're Doing as our Part in the decadal (every 10 year) Lambeth Conference for the bishops of the Anglican Communion."

SEE NEXT COLUMN FOR PROVINCES AND THEIR STAND-INS.

1) We have encouraged our parishioners to take this very important gathering of bishops as a wakeup call to be engaged in constant prayer for the Unity of the Church, as Jesus prayed in John 17, and to see this Unity continued to be developed in our own cities and towns here in Tulare and Tulare County.

2) We have encouraged parishioners to get to know the other Anglican Communion provinces and their leadership, which we hope might engender furher opportunities for specific followup prayer, for missionary possibilities, and for the vestry to consider financial assistance as led by the Holy Spirit.

3) We want to be especially sensitive to current needs for the Provinces.

4) We are praying as a parish for whatever very specific needs might still be revealed through their contact with individuals from those Provinces, as well as hearing back from our contacts there in Kent, at Lambeth Palace as the conference continues.

5) July 27 will have an Evening Prayer service where The Prayers will be devoted to "Proxy Prayer" for the Provinces as noted in the column to the right. Even if you are not a member of the parish, you are invited to be a Proxy wherever you might be that evening. E-mail stjohnstulare [at] yahoo [dot] com if you would like to be added to one of the Provinces as a proxy.

Click here to go to Lambeth Proxy Prayer Results page, currently containing photos of the parishioners who were the stand in Proxies.  Strangely (we know better), only eight of those previously committed to attending were able to be there in person.  Most of those not attending were central to the ability of the small group prayer teams to operate effectively.  As a result, a great deal of time was necessarily diverted to explanation and training, and consequently only 8 Provinces were prayed over (as well as the Lambeth Conference as a whole).  Descriptions of the specific prayer offered will be added as the proxies complete their reports and submit them.

When a photo AND/OR the specific prayers of the proxy and prayer station are online, you will see the name of an Anglican Province below with underline link.

Each of the Provinces were NOT able to be covered in prayer on Sunday night.  So, much of the basic research for prayer will not get done prior to the prayer time.  If you see that a Province is not listed, and you would like to do the research (primarily, find the top 3 to 5 needs of the Province) just send it in to us AND commit yourself to prayer for that Province.   Take notes during your prayer time, and send us a copy; we'll include it in our prayer notes to the Primate of that Province as followup.
