PARISH COUNCIL NEWS
Dear Parish family,
Christ is Risen,
Indeed God is with us and continues to be in our midst. As we turn to one another during the Divine Liturgy each Sunday proclaiming that Christ is in our midst, indeed, that He is and ever shall be--the miracle of God's love is shared amongst us.
We want all of you to know that the Parish Council is working hard to respond in word and action to the therapeutic insight our loving Metropolitan left us; to move into the future beyond the past, with forgiveness, love and a positive focus on the future vision of our beloved parish. We will always have a time struggling with change, adversity and the temptations that affect each and every one of us, inside and outside of the Church, and we are tempted to become idle.
Standing water, without wind or current eventually becomes contaminated, malodorous, and leads to the "BREAKING DOWN" of life. We need the wind of God’s breath to fill us with hope, faith and love; our recipe for success. We need the current of His divine energy to flow over us and stir us up: We all know what that energy calls us to do. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit will energize us to the "BUILDING UP" of our Church.
Our thirst as a Parish needs to be quenched by God's life-giving spirit, To truly move forward we must be willing to devote our attention to what is positive, transforming and uniting; this and this alone will help us fulfill our purpose and mission as a Parish.
We are eager to see what God's future plan is for us, and what great possibilities this could lead to! In twenty or thirty years we do not want to be faced with the reality that we could have, would have or should have, done this or that to promote growth within our parish for Her youth.
His Eminence said that our youth should be our focus. Do we then need to become like a child with our practice and attitudes towards serving our Church? Yes, we can, with childlike simplicity, enthusiasm and work together in Christian love, yes, we can, together share a willingness to overlook each others imperfections, yes, we can, practice the childlike unconditional friendship required to move forward into the future, crushing the head of adversity with the sign of the Cross and in the name of Jesus Christ.
The Parish Council desires to share its courage with you, rejoice in what good the Lord has in store for us!
In Christ,
Stephen Strategos, representing your Parish Council
