FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This section is to answer some questions often asked by non-Christians, and new Christians. Some may seem silly, but perhaps it is time to answer them. If you have a question that needs to be addressed, please direct them to

and I will do my best to answer them. Enjoy!

1: Q: Can God make a rock too big for Him to lift? A: Yes, He can, and then He can lift it, because with God, all things are possible.

2: Q: Where did Cain get his wife? A: Since no one yet existed outside of the family of Adam and Eve, it can be reasonably expected that Cain married his sister. Though she is not mentioned specifically, we can believe that, since no one else was around, it had to be family member. Also, since the lines of man are traced from Cain and Seth, (Abel's replacement, so to speak), there was no need to mention any other children of Adam and Eve. That they had more children is definite, since it is mentioned in the lineage of Adam, ("And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters." Gen 5:4) And, since the Bible doesn't say WHEN Cain was married, it could have been even a distant relative 200 years later. Thus, Cain married a sister/cousin/niece from his own family.

3. Q. Are Christians, while under the law of Grace, bound to keep the law, as well? A. Lets get it from the Apostle Peter's mouth: "Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they." (Acts 15:10,11) Simply, when certain Jews were insisting that Gentile believers needed to be circumcised, and to keep the law of Moses, Peter told them that not they, nor their fathers could keep the law. In Galatians 3: 24&25, Paul tells us that the law was a schoolmaster, which was to point us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Once faith came, at Jesus resurrection, we no longer needed a schoolmaster. So, we are not under the law. This does not, however, give a Christian free reign to sin, but rather gives us freedom from sin.

4: Q: What about Contemporary Christian Music?
A: Contemporary means that it is in the style of the popular music of the day, be it light Jazz, (Celine Dione), Pop, (Brittany Spears), Rock&Roll, Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Punk, Gothic, Industrial, Rap, Ska, and the list goes on. These styles, be they new or old, are all the children of the Rock and Roll movement, a particularly worldly style of music, (Rock and Roll was originally a term for illicit sex), which stands for sex, drugs, alcohol, violence, and rebellion, and thus, none of it has any place in the House or worship of God. What has happened, is that someone along the way decided that he wanted to keep listening to the worldly music after he was saved, so the profane music of Satan was mixed with the Holy words of God. Consider the first real song in that style was called, "Why should the Devil have all the good music?" The Lord judged Israel because the priests refused to make a separation between the holy and the profane. This is the same thing. (2Cor 6:14-18; Ez. 22:26) It has also been claimed that, as long as the attitude of the worshipper is one of glorifying God, that is all that matters, and it is acceptable to the Lord. However, if you compare this to Leviticus 10: 1&2, when, in excitement over God's acceptance of the first atonement offering, Nadab and Abihu offered "Strange Fire" to the Lord, which He had not commanded them,  they were killed for it. They were offering a heartfelt offering, not out of deceit or a wrong attitude, but it was still wrong, and they were killed for it. The offering, despite the good intentions, was still not acceptable to God. And if you say, "But the lyrics are all true, solid Bible!", consider, also, the maid with a spirit of divination, who spoke the absolute truth about Paul, telling that He was sent of God, to give the way of salvation, in Acts 16:16. The spirit was still rebuked, because it was an improper messenger! The message was important, but the MESSENGER was more important!

5:Q.:What is the difference between Baptists and other Protestant denominations? A: What, indeed? Well, to start, the Baptist aren't, specifically, Protestant, as they never were part of the Roman Catholic Church, and never left in protest, hence the name Protestant. The Baptists came out of a line from the original Apostolic church of Acts. True, we weren't always called "Baptist", but took on that name after the Anabaptists, so-called because of their practice of re-baptizing people who were converted from the Catholic beliefs. We don't recognize infant baptism, being found nowhere in scripture, and, since it is the act of baptism that brings one into membership with a local, New Testament church, it is necessary to have the right baptism, being by immersion, (save for unusual circumstances), and symbolic of Jesus death, burial, and resurrection. Baptism doesn't have anything to do with getting saved, but only with BEING saved, as the first act of obedience to the Lord.
We are also different from many churches, though not all, I recognize, in that we stay to the scriptures, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, (Jer 6:16). We accept the King James Bible as the preserved Word of God, and use no other from the pulpit; we don't use the contemporary music styles in service. We stay as close as we can to the church in Acts, while still understanding that some things of that time are no more. We believe that, while the Lord can do as He chooses, yet the showing of gifts of tongues and healing by the disciples, were for that time, at the birth of the church, to show especially the Jews, that the Lord had given the gift of the holy Spirit to the Gentiles, as well. The tongues of Acts Chapter two, at Pentecost, and the subsequent two examples of tongues in the Bible were not a special prayer language, nor an ecstatic, non-human angelic language, but the real, human languages of those present, listening, to give the gospel to the lost, and to show that it was through the power of God it was being given. This was an incidental miracle, attached to the promised miracle of power from on high, which the disciples were told to wait for, when they were given the filling of the Holy Ghost, power to be witnesses of the Lord Jesus Christ, not to edify themselves by speaking some unusual spiritual language, as is sometimes said.

6 Q:Can church membership/Baptism/Sacraments/good living get one to Heaven? A: The Bible tells us thus: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast" (Eph 2:8, 9). Simply put, if you will, this is saying that salvation is a free gift, which we obtain by the grace of God, undeserved, through our agent of faith in Jesus Christ. It is not obtained by the works and efforts of man, otherwise, we would have the right to stand before the gates of heaven and demand entrance, due to OUR works and efforts. However, we have no right to boast of our works, because salvation is a finished work by Jesus Christ, completed at the cross, and sealed at His resurrection, making it available to all people. Being a member in good standing of a Bible-believing church is certainly a good thing, but it won't get you to Heaven; nor will baptism, which is a part of BEING saved, an act of obedience, not GETTING saved. Sacraments, ordinances, dietary rules, priests, popes, none of these things will get you to Heaven-ONLY faith in Jesus Christ, leading to repentance, or turning away from, your sins.  (Romans 10:9-13;  Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23;  John 3:16, et al.)

7 Q: What makes you believe that your church is the right church, over any other church? Are you the only ones going to heaven?  A: It isn't belonging to the right church that will get one to heaven, but the individual's relationship with Jesus Christ and God the Father that will be the deciding factor. One must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, which makes God their Father, if one is to go to Heaven. That relationship is gained by believing on Jesus Christ and His death, burial and resurrection, repenting of your sins in your heart, (which will be followed by active repentance later), and calling upon Jesus to forgive your sins and save you. It is not works, baptism, sacraments, confession to a priest, or membership in the right church that will get you saved, just Christ and His grace, or unmerited favor. So, while I DO believe that Independent Fundamental Baptist is the best church one will find, (and not even all of those so called), yet I believe that many out of other churches will surely be in Heaven, as well as many who were around before there was a church, and those who died without ever having the opportunity to be part of a church.

8 Q: Why go to church?  A: I could give one reason and call it good, but I'll go further. The first reason is because the church is the body of Christ, and thus, each individual, local New Testament church is the local body of Christ, with Jesus Christ as Head of it. For His entire earthly ministry, Jesus' time was spent, in a large part, training the heads of His church, the Apostles, preparing them to take the ministry after His return to heaven. Thus, the church was very important to Jesus, and should so be to us.  Aside from that, we are told, in Heb. 10: 25 that we are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together, especially as we see the time, (of the end) approaching, which we clearly see today. The church is the origin of all ministries and missions works, it is the training ground for Christians in doctrine and scripture, and is where we go to have fellowship with other, like-minded children of God. It is, in fact, not even the building, but the assembly, the Christians joining together in one accord, that IS the church. So, really, not being part of a local church is not even an option for a born-again Christian.
