Bethlehem goes GREEN for God!!!

We are launching a renewed recycling effort - a campaign that will raise funds for Bethlehem’s Follow the Star ministry, and it will COST YOU NOTHING!!!

How can that be? Well, read on for all of the GREEN details...

WHAT is GO GREEN for GOD ?

It’s the name that we have given to Bethlehem’s renewed effort to join the GREEN movement to reduce, reuse & recycle, while at the same time raising funds for our Follow the Star…..to Bethlehem ministry.

We just save our cans, bottles & jars, and Follow the Star is the beneficiary. It’s easy, it’s responsible, and it’s truly a WIN-WIN endeavor!

WHERE ?

At Bethlehem – where you come regularly anyway! No need to go out of your way to help with this mission – we’re making it super convenient for you.

You will find a large collection container near the center of the church main courtyard every Sunday and Wednesday. Just come and deposit your bag(s) of recyclables into the bin and our Green Team will take care of the rest for you! (And if you need help unloading your recyclables from your car, we’ll be happy to assist you!)

HOW much can my recyclables really help?

Based on an average size family’s acceptable recyclables of $25 per month, here’s a conservative projection:

And that doesn’t even include what each of us might also collect from our extended family, friends or neighbors! This will easily double or triple if our efforts include reaching out to them as well!

WHY do we desire to do this ?

• To be good stewards of the awesome planet that God has entrusted to us.

• To serve our God, from whom ALL things are given to us in the first place.

• To serve our church, each other, and to continue to reach out to our community with Follow the Star…. to Bethlehem.

Even in these difficult economic times, there IS a way for you to “give” of your gifts, talents and treasures, AND keeping God’s creation GREEN, all without negatively impacting your family’s needs. We hope you’ll prayerfully consider helping us in this way.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are *ACCEPTABLE* recyclables?

• Aluminum cans
• #1 Plastic bottles & jars
• #2 Plastic bottles & jars
• All types & colors of glass bottles & jars

Do I need to pre-sort my items before bringing them to church?

No, but if you’d like to, that would be helpful to our Youth Group and GREEN TEAM volunteers.

Do I need to clean all of the recyclables?

Most items do not need to be cleaned, just emptied out completely. However, if you could, please rinse out any particularly messy containers such as those containing peanut butter, mayo, punch, etc. But if you don’t have time, NO PROBLEM! We’d rather you bring them in as-is than not at all!

What is NOT an acceptable recyclable?

Tin or non-aluminum cans (ie. soup cans, etc.); plastic tubs such as butter, sour cream containers… EVEN IF they have a #1 or #2 symbol on them; Plastics #3, #4, #5, #6 or #7; paper or cardboard. Although Bethlehem’s Go Green for God campaign is not able to accept these kinds of otherwise recyclable items, we encourage you to be green by placing them in your usual recyclable trash receptacle at home or in your neighborhood.

Not sure if it’s an “acceptable” recyclable? BRING IT ANYWAY!

God Recycles! He made you out of dust!  (Genesis 2:7)
