Sermon Schedule

Sunday, May 5
 6th Sunday of Easter:
“The Peace of Christ”
In this week’s lectionary reading, John 14:23-29, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” What is the nature of this peace? How do we live in Christ’s peace?

Sunday, May 12
 Ascension Sunday (Mother’s Day):
“In, But Out”
In Jesus’ farewell speech to his disciples in John 17:11-26, he stresses that, like him, they do not belong to this world. They are in the world, as witnesses to him, but not of the world. In a sense, they are like missionary kids, creating a third culture. How do we live this unique culture of being Christ’s disciples, in but still out?

Sunday, May 19
 Pentecost Sunday:
“We Are the Church Together!”
Today is considered the birthday of Christ’s church, the day the Holy Spirit was poured out on the disciples with the rush of wind and tongues of fire. As we revisit this familiar story in Acts 2:1-21, we will explore the responsibilities and privileges of being a Christian church, Christ’s Body on earth.
Wear red to celebrate the Spirit!

Sunday, May 26
 Trinity Sunday:
“A People of Memory and Dreams”
This is Trinity Sunday and Memorial Day weekend, a weekend in which our nation calls on us to remember those who died serving their country. God also calls on us to remember – to remember God’s acts and how God died for us through the Son. And out of our memory come dreams for the future. What does God dream for us? John 5:1-5 is the lectionary passage for today
