Sunday Morning Worship Services
Quartz Hill Presbyterian Church offers two worship services on Sunday morning, each with its own distinctive style -- one more traditional, the other more contemporary. Worship at both services is God-centered -- honoring and reading the same Scripture lesson and led by the same Pastor who gives the same Sermon.

Our Contemporary service invites us into a more intimate experience of God in worship. We use live contemporary music and digital projection to worship Jesus and communicate the message of His Gospel. The service lasts around 50 minutes and there is plenty of good coffee and snaks available afterwards. You are encouraged to "come as you are."

Our 10:30 am Blended service seeks to honor God Almighty by drawing upon the richness of our hymns of faith and praise choruses, accompanied by our talented Pianist as well as our Choir which support the liturgical majesty of this service. Your children may come up front to hear a special story before leaving to participate in their own kid-oriented worship. The Word is underscored by our rich tradition of prayers, responsive readings and creeds of the church. The service is around one hour long and is followed by light refreshments. A warm, personal welcome is extended to all. Come and worship with us.

The Holy Communion or Eucharist is served every first Sunday of each month as well as on Holydays to be announced

"What is the chief end of man?
Man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever"

from the Westminster Shorter Cathecism

Thoughts that inform
our view and practice of worship…
(All quotes are from the Directory of Worship in the Presbyterian Book of Order)

“Beyond Scripture no single warrant for ordering worship exists, but the worship of the Church is informed and shaped by history, culture, and contemporary need."W-3.1000

"The PCUSA acknowledges that all forms of worship are provisional and subject to reformation. In ordering worship the church is to seek openness to the creativity of the Holy Spirit, who guides the church toward worship which is orderly yet spontaneous, consistent with God’s Word and open to the newness of God’s future."W-3.1002

"In addition to psalms, the Church in the New Testament sang hymns and spiritual songs. Through the ages and from varied cultures, the church has developed additional musical forms for congregational prayer. Congregations are encouraged to use these diverse musical forms for prayer as well as those which arise out of the musical life of their own cultures."W-2.1003

"In the Old and New Testaments and through the ages, the people of God expressed prayer through actions as well as speech and song. So in worship today it is appropriate:

to kneel, to bow, to stand, to lift hands in prayer,
to dance, to clap, to embrace in joy and praise,
to anoint and to lay on hands in intercession and supplication, commissioning and ordination." W-2.1005
