Welcome to
Saint Peter's Episcopal Church!

The Rev. Everett "Perry" Perine, Rector
30 Church St.
Hebron, CT  06248
(860) 228-3244

Serving the communities of Andover, Bolton, Colchester, Columbia, Coventry, Hebron, Lebanon, and Marlborough, Connecticut

Where ordinary people are doing extraordinary things.

Our purpose is to provide information, help and inspiration to Internet explorers. We hope you'll find features that will make you want to bookmark our site as a favorite location.  If you're looking for a church home, we'd love to have you become part of our parish family.

If you're already an active member of a church, then we ask for your prayers as we try to make the Good News of Jesus Christ known to those who travel through cyberspace.

Organized in 1734, we have a long and wonderful history — and yet we’re a modern, active congregation, with all of the worship, programs, and activities you would expect to find in any Episcopal church.

We have a flourishing Sunday School, adult Christian education programs, Bible discussion and study, retreats, quiet days, fellowship groups, prayer groups, and a long list of activities that reach out to people in need.

Welcome!

Notes from the Office

Altar Flowers - The signup sheet for altar flowers is on the bulletin board. The cost is $40.  If there is no one requesting flowers, we will use artificial flowers. The office will need to notify the florist each Monday, so Claire will check the signup sheet Monday mornings. Please be sure to put “altar flowers” in the memo on your check (which can be placed in the offertory box or in the pocket on Claire’s office door), or, if you use cash, please indicate the destination on an envelope.

Household Information – In an effort to complete our parish directory records, we hope that all members of St. Peter’s will take a moment to fill out a Parish Household Information Form (yellow sheet) available at the back of the church and return it to the office. This will allow us to update our mailing lists, birthday list, and other contact information to insure that you will receive schedules and notification of upcoming parish events.  Thank you!

Parish Office Hours:  The Parish Office is open 8-11 a.m. Monday-Friday. If no one is in the office please leave a telephone message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.  Father Perry’s day off is Friday.

Bulletin Announcements should be submitted to the office no later than Wednesday at 9:00 am to insure printing in the Sunday bulletin, the weekly posting on our website, and inclusion in our parish news releases.

Community/Diocesan Events

Blood Donations – The Red Cross reminds us that the need for blood never goes on summer vacation. Connecticut must collect 650 units of blood every single day throughout the year to keep the supplies at a safe inventory level. Please consider making a donation this summer. Please contact Matt at 860-284-7049 to find a blood drive in our area.

Eye glasses collection - A receptacle to collect eye glasses and cell phones that you no longer need has been placed in Phelps Hall by the Lions Club of Hebron.  You don’t use them anymore and someone else can!

State, National and World News

Presiding Bishop's statement at the conclusion of the 2008 Lambeth Conference - Many bishops came to this gathering in fear and trembling, expecting either a distasteful encounter between those of vastly different opinions, or the cold shoulder from those who disagree. The overwhelming reality has been just the opposite. We have prayed, cried, learned, and laughed together, and discovered something deeper about the body of Christ.   more...

Update on New Storage Shed

Our new storage shed for lawn care and maintenance equipment is nearing completion.  Jack Gasper and members of the Building and Grounds committee designed the project, purchased the materials from money collected by the committee and provided the labor for its construction.  Special thanks to Jack and all those who have helped with the project!  Pictured are Jack Gasper and Kurt Kraemer.

Parish Notes and Upcoming Events

From the Buildings & Grounds Commission:

* We have a Troy Built Tomahawk chipper/mulcher for sale. It is in excellent (like new) condition. The highest donation gets the chipper. Proceeds from this sale will go toward buying materials for the new shed that is presently under construction. Contact Jack Gasper for details (228-0201).

Thursday Evening Eucharist and Healing Service! – Our weekday evening Eucharist resumes on August 21th. It is held 7:00 p.m. each Thursday in the church.  This informal celebration includes a healing service offered to any who seek the healing love of God in their lives or in the lives of loved ones.  Please feel free to join us for this very special and meaningful worship. During the summer months the sermons on Thursday evenings will be based on the Old Testament readings for Sunday.

Coffee and Fellowship – “Coffee Hour” has always been an important time for us to meet new people and to share fellowship with one another. We are always looking for people to host. It’s easy, it’s fun and it’s a special way to serve your church.  So whether you’ve done it before or are a “first-timer,” we urge you to sign up to host for one of the upcoming Sundays on the form in the back of the church.  If you need additional information, please contact Joan Perkins at 228-3428.
