It a few short weeks and we will come to the end of the Ordinary or Season after Pentecost and we will enter into the season of Advent, thus making the end of another Church year and the beginning of another.

The Advent season is a time of reflection.  It is a season we reflect on what God did and what is to come.  In our reflection we celebrate God’s gift of His Son Jesus to the world – the first Advent, and we anticipate-the Second Advent- the Second Coming when Jesus will return again. We celebrate what God did and what He is going to do.

At St. Elizabeth’s we are coming the end of one season and looking forward to the beginning of another season.   It is a season filled with two special celebrations.  The first is God’s blessing St. Elizabeth’s as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary and the second is celebrating Lori Hoey’s ordination to the Sacred Order of the Diaconate.  Both of these celebrations are celebrations of two historic milestone events. They are celebration of what God has done and the anticipation of what He is going to do.

These events speak of God’s wondrous grace and blessings.  From the humble beginnings in October 1984 when the first organizational meeting met, St. Elizabeth’s has experienced many ups and downs.  There were years of prosperity and years that were lean.  But through it all, one does not have to look too hard to see God’s sustaining hand in the life of the parish.

Evidence of this can be found in the hallways there is an aerial photo of the original structure.  A small little church with a small narthex.  Today the main Nave has been expanded, a chapel replaces the narthex, an new narthex was created.  In addition there is the Russell building—our fellowship and educational building.

The second event is Lori Hoey’s ordination to the Sacred Order of the Diaconate.  Lori will be the first person from St. Elizabeth’s to be raised up by God from the congregation to be ordained while at St. Elizabeth’s.  It is a celebration of God’s hand at work setting aside and calling a person from St. Elizabeth’s to ordained ministry.

God is faithful when we are faithful to Him.  As we celebrate what He has done from the first advent, let’s rejoice and look with hope to what is come.  May God continue raise us up and use to His glory, forever and ever.
