High over towering pines our voices swell,
Praising those Gothic spires, we love so well.
Here sons and daughters stand, faithful and true,
Hailing our alma mater, F.S.U.
Florida State University is the oldest site of higher education in the state of Florida, rich in history and tradition. Since 1851, the purpose of our University remains the passing
on of knowledge from generation to generation. The three torches are
the keepers of the symbolic and sacred flames of knowledge that
illuminate the ideals of the institution: Edification of the body,
mind, and spirit. In harmony, the Torches enlighten Physical, Mental,
and Moral excellence, crafting complete Men and Women. From the inception of the School, Florida State University has fostered the spiritual development, and instilled moral excellence upon generations of Seminoles, who will forever bear the torches and perpetuate the legacy, uphold the tradition, and enrich the heritage of their Alma Mater.
The Orthodox Christian Fellowship at Florida State University is a dynamic community of students from many different
backgrounds who share a common desire to sharpen their faith. Through a variety of events including
discussions, bible studies, retreats, and workshops, the members of the organization are afforded the opportunity to nourish their souls, make spiritual connections, and learn and grow in Christ and eachother. In
addition, fellowship and service events foster community and strong bonds of friendship. Members
learn from one another, and from the rich 2,000-year-old tradition of Orthodox
Christianity.
Regardless of background or creed, all are cordially and enthusiastically
welcome and invited to join us.
