The deacons and deaconess of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church are called out and set aside to assist in the administration of the Church. They provide for the physical and spiritual needs of members within the church body. Deacon and Deaconess assist the pastor in the ordinances of the church, baptism, and the Lord's Supper. Their assistance enables the pastor to give more attention to the preaching and teaching of God’s word.
Senior and Youth Choir Ministry
Choirs are important in the service of the Lord. The choir is responsible for the music during the worship service. Their music prepares hearts for the word of God. Therefore, songs for each service ought to be selected prayerfully. The choir supports the pastor when he goes out to minister the word of God. We must understand that singing is a ministry. The choir ministry often sets the tone of worship. Therefore, the choir must give their best unto God.
Usher Ministry
Ushers have a very important role in the church. They are the first to make an impression on new comers. They are responsible for making the members and the visitors of the church comfortable during the worship service. They must be watchful for things that will distract from the worship service. They must be tactful in dealing with situation that will come up during the worship service. Remember the first impression is often a lasting impression.
The Outreach Ministry
The Outreach Ministry is responsible for extending the ministry of the church beyond the walls of St. Luke. They provide tapes of the services and prepare monthly bulletins. Their ministry is designed to carry the gospel to as many people in our community as possible. They record the service each Sunday and special services. They send tapes to members that have departed the area and they supply tapes to members who may not be able to attend church each Sunday for various reasons.
The Hospitality Ministry
The Hospitality Ministry is responsible for taking care of the sick and shut-in. This is a caring ministry. The Hospitality Ministry sends flowers and cards to the sick and bereaved. They keep the pastor and deacons informed of members who are sick. This ministry ensures that members receive the love and concern of the church.
The Transportation Ministry
The Transportation Ministry is responsible for getting members to and from services. This ministry is vital to the growth of the church. We understand there are those in our communities that may need transportation to and from the church. Therefore, this ministry is designed to support the efforts of the church to minister the word of God to people throughout the community. This ministry helps parents, who cannot make it to church due to work or illness, ensure their children get to church.
The Mission and Brotherhood Ministry
The Mission and Brotherhood Ministries are teaching ministries of the church. They are ministries in which men and women can grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and their responsibilities as men and women. The mission is designed for women and the brotherhood is designed for men. Each performs an outreach ministry as well. They not only come together to study the word of God, but they do things in the community to uplift the name of Jesus.
The Pastor’s Aide Ministry
The Pastor’s Aide Ministry is an auxiliary organized and controlled by the members of the church. It is designed to take care of needs the Pastor may have. They do things to make the Pastor comfortable in his ministry of the word of God.
Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry is designed to help our youth grow in the Lord. This ministry teaches the youth to be productive in the service of the Lord. The youth take responsibility in the church services. They are taught the word of God and do things to bring unity among the youth. They are active in the worship service and the activities of the church. This ministry is important and needs adults who are willing to give their time and talents to help mold our young people.
Food Ministry
Jesus said, "I was hungry and you fed me not.." The Food Ministry provides food for those within our community. The members of the church provide non-perishable food on request. Anyone needing food can contact the church and receive food in time of need.
Children's Church
We have activities for children between 3-6 years of age during our worship service. This service allows parent(s) with small children time to enjoy the worship service. Our goal is to improve this activity as space becomes available.
