St. James CME Church ~ Perry, Georgia

Dexter Johnson has been a faithful member and servant at St. James CME since his early youth. Here, he is working beside Mrs. Catherine Ingram, assisting with this year's Fort Valley/Savannah District Sunday School Convention that was hosted by St. James CME. Dexter made his family and Church very proud with his graduation from Perry High School and enrolling as a Freshman at Fort Valley State University. His dedication and hard work is a true testimony of his faith in God and his value to his community. We are all very proud of him.

Little Catherine Mariah Johnson is a true example of faith in action. Here, she is participating in this year's St. James CME Missionary Program, singing "His Eye is On the Sparrow". She did not miss a note or a beat. Looking on is Mrs. Teresa Mitchell, who is Catherine's vocal coach at the Mitchell Academy of Music here in Perry. We are often blessed with Little Catherine's ministry of song.

By his mother's account, young Edison JaMaal McGhee should not be alive today. But, he is a true testimony of God's Grace and Goodness. Young JaMaal suffered a brain-damaging disease that threatened his very life. But, by God's Grace, he is a strong and present member of St. James CME. He can be heard every Sunday saying, "Amen!" and singing God's praises right along with his mother, Ms. Patrice McGhee, whose grandfather once pastored at St. James CME. "God Bless You and Keep You, JaMaal!"

Miss Catherine Mariah Johnson, Proprietor - "CJ's Lemonade Stand"

As we all know, July is usually one of the hottest months of the summer.  The heat feels as though it pulls all of the moisture from our bodies, and we tend to consume more liquids than usual.  Perhaps, that's why the sound of a sweet innocent voice shouting, "CJ's fresh squeezed lemonade!" caught the attention of many people on a very hot day...Eight year old Miss Catherine Mariah Johnson, a member of Saint James C.M.E. Church, New Generation Choir in Perry, Georgia had a vision to sell lemonade to raise a total of $163.00 for her church.  With a smile on her face, Catherine was elated to give God the Glory for having accomplished the task of raising more than the amount of money she had originally set out to raise.  At the time, Catherine was not on an academic mission(as she is often known to be), but on a Mission for the Lord.

Following in the footsteps of her grandmother, Mrs. Catherine Ingram, her mother, Hervella and her aunt, Denise, Catherine sings in the choir, leading songs and also sings solo, sending beautiful praises throughout the congregation while perfecting each note of her song.  Whenever Catherine isn't singing, she sits very tentatively near the front pew of the church, listening to the morning message.

Catherine wants to thank each and every one who helped her to add a blessing to her church!
