• Past Events – The Philoptochos Thanksgiving Luncheon was a great success with a total of $404 raised to support the ministries of Philoptochos. The Seniors’ Event on Monday also was successful with a wonderful turnout.• TODAY – Stewardship Committee Meeting – Luncheon.
• TODAY - 40-day Memorial Service for George Karras. May his memory be eternal!
• Congratulations to John Acharzoglou for receiving the Catalyst Award for individual efforts to enhance diversity and inclusive excellence at the University of Iowa and to Nick Huerter for becoming the 2008-09 State of Iowa First Grade Chess Champion (again).
• Aristia Schlesinger (Goldie Helgen’s sister) fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, November 10th. May her memory be eternal!
• FALL PARISH ASSEMBLY – SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2008 immediately after the Divine Liturgy in the Church Hall. As per the Uniform Parish Regulations (UPRs) and our church bylaws, an agenda has already gone out to all eligible voters. If you have not received this agenda in the mail or still do not see your name on the list of eligible voters on the bulletin in the church hall, please speak to Michael Christodoulou or Fr. Ciprian during fellowship, so that you can bring yourself to good standing as we desire everyone’s full participation in the Parish Assembly.
• CHAMBER SINGERS OF IOWA – will perform hymns of the Orthodox Vespers Service by Russian Orthodox composer Sergei Rachmaninov on Sunday, November 23rd at 3:00pm at First Presbyterian Church (2701 Rochester Avenue, Iowa City). See Edie Yerington for more details.
• Our Nov-Dec Newsletter – is already out. Glory be to God! Thank you to all those who sent their announcements on time and even to those that sent them later ☺. To avoid future Newsletter delays, Fr. Ciprian has created an online submission form that will be made available to everyone at the beginning of the month of December. He is encouraged and hopeful that with this new Submission Form and your involvement/cooperation we can get this Newsletter out in a timely manner.
• ST. RAPHAEL ANTIOCHIAN ORTHODOX MISSION - have started their capital campaign to raise funds for the purchase of a place of worship, a church building. You should receive a mailing with information about how you can contribute to this cause if you so desire.
• WEEKLY ORTHODOX BIBLE STUDY - Fridays 1:00pm to 2:15pm – We will cover the rest of chapter 7 from the Gospel of St. Mark. Feel free to bring the Old Study Bible.
• FR. CIPRIAN is using his last days of vacation (and days off) for his academic work during weekdays so as to NOT interfere with our liturgical schedule. He will be using vacation days next week on Wednesday and Thursday. He WILL BE reachable for emergencies ONLY from Monday through Thursday.
